If He had allolwed, soon Islam would have been like Hinduism. Every one would be worshipping statue of Moahmmad instead of worshipping unseen God. This is what happend to most of the Prophets God may have sent to Hindus in India. And that is why Prophet Mohammad prohibited Muslims from making any pictures, images or statues of God. And Muslims try to do any thing possible to see that no one makes his picture, cartoon or statue even to put in Museum in glass.
May ignorant Muslims try to kiss the walls and rails of the tomb of Prophet Mohammad in Madina and the guards
push them away telling them "not allowed by Prophet" what your are doing. Muslims are allowed only to pray to God to bless soul of Mohammad. Millions of Muslims bless his soul every minute of the day around the world.
Muslims even pray to God to bless souls of all other Prophets they know from Quran like Jesus, Moses, Abraham, David, Sulaiman, Noah and Adam.

God and the prophets(PBUH*) can't have images drawn of them or be shown on TV in movies because it will promote idolatry. Also animals and humans can not be resembled as inanimate objects.

yeah from what i know you cannot have any images of mohammed so that means pictures, statues, or anything of that nature

Not of Allah or any of his apostles.
Only calligraphy.

none of the prophets are supposed to be drawn in islam, including muhammed, jesus, moses, adam, ismael, abraham, isaac, etc
