He is funny, smart, very nice, the perfect gentleman. He gets great grades and as a senior is looking at some excellent colleges. Our ages are compatible...blah blah blah. He is perfect. The only thing is...his teeth. They bother me alot. They are kind of yellow. I know it is not poor hygiene or not going to the dentist alot. Also, he is a swimmer and I noticed that a couple of his fellow swimmers have the same problem. I was just wondering if I should just ignore it, or confront him about it. If I should talk to him about it, how do i go about it? I mean it is kind of embarrassing and awkward and we have only been dating a couple months.
Thanks

no one can choose the color of their teeth. so what they are yellow. teeth are bones and you cant change the color unless you get it bleached which is not healthy. if your that picky about the color of this teeth than i just think your shallow. he seems like a great guy and if your going to possible ruin the relationship over something that silly i dont htink you deserve him. ignore the color and if you talk to him about it he might get offended and confused why you have a problem with his teeth. if you love him you will accept him for who he is and all his faults (no matter how silly they are).

Swimmers risk stained teeth
Frequent swimmers may be at risk for developing yellowish-brown or dark brown stains on their teeth.
Those who swim more than six hours a week continually expose their teeth to chemically treated water. Pool water contains chemical additives such as anti-microbials, which give the water a higher pH than saliva. As a result, salivary proteins break down quickly and form organic deposits on swimmers' teeth.
The hard, brown deposits, known as "swimmers' calculus," appear most frequently on the front teeth. Incidence of brown tartar is as high as 58 percent in children who swim regularly in elementary through high school.
Brushing more often and more carefully hasn't been proven to help. In fact, overuse of tartar control toothpaste can cause irritation and inflammation of the gums. However, swimmers' calculus can normally be removed by a professional dental cleaning. Those who swim competitively should be sure to visit their dentist and hygienist regularly.

"Confront" him? You said it yourself, your boyfriend is a gentleman and perfect in every way. I would imagine, you can bring it up and discuss it with him, but "confronting" him would be a wrong thing to do.
I have never seen swimmers with this condition. I am not even certain if this is a result of chlorine water. Is it possible he smokes or drink LOTS of coffee?
Almost seems as if you are looking for a perfection. That is not going to happen.

Being as how you said that a couple of his fellow swimmers have yellow teeth, ask him why that is, but leave him out of it.

Well it may be really awkward since you guys haven't been together for a long time, but if he's an understanding guy and you trust him you can go ahead and tell him.In my opinion it would be bother me if my bf would have dirty teeth, but it all depends on how you take it.If you plan on telling him, don't give it to him harshly..have kindness and be calm:)

I'm sure he's conscious about his teeth.
Someday when you two are alone, ask him if he would consider seeing a cosmetic dentist to have his teeth whitened?

Suggest you both whiten your teeth. Buy crest whitestrips and tell him that you both should try it, and see if it works. So he will think you like white teeth and want them for both yourself and him.
