I would find it hard to ask someone to post or transmit a live birth over the internet. There are too many ways of that video (whether a live feed or video posted soon after) to be viewed by others. Would you really want to ask someone to risk having such a private moment being picked up random strangers?
You also need to make sure the gf would be comfortable having you watching. I wasn't comfortable having anyone else there except my hubby and the necessary medical staff.
If they're fine with it, there are ways to do a live feed on a web cam but they are NOT very secure. If would also be expensive if they do not have the needed equipment such as a laptop. There's no way the hospital is going to let them cart in a big desktop computer to broadcast it. Also, some hospitals would not let you 'live' broadcast at all.
If they want to share that moment then ask them to record it and mail you a dvd.
Congratulations on becoming a Grandma!

I would not any of my childrens births broad cast to the world.Technology is a wonderful thing but this is up to the girlfriend giving birth whether she would want the birth broadcast on the internet or video.Maybe they can have a video of the baby sent to you after its been born.Giving birth is a private and personal matter.

I hate people who answer questions with questions.

I'm not a goo-roo expert but have the parents get a lap top with wifi and attach an external webcam to it. Most hospitals offer free wifi internet so the laptop can be online at the same time. Find a suitable program to broadcast it live and you're all set.

Why would you actually want to see the birthing part?

I wouldn't want my births to be broadcast.
