Hard to say what individual people believe. Although spirituality can exist as it's own thing outside of religion, and does not necessarily have to involve a deity. I suppose a spiritual person could just believe in nature, the universe, all those things greater than oneself but are not beings or entities. Some people even believe in the paranormal, but perhaps not that it's connected to a deity or a 'heaven' in any way.

I'm toying with the idea of a sort of "Teacher" diety/figure that walks you through your life after you're dead and shows you where you went wrong. After that's done, you join it. You become part of the voice that guides the recent dead. Part of the Universal Wisdom. It's a great place. You become of one mind with all dead creatures ever. That includes even insects. Even they have things to teach us,.
Nothing fixed, but I do enjoy thinking up spiritual and religious things. Funny enough, anything I think of is so much more wonderous and beautiful than anything any religion has ever made.

Quite a question. Not sure *I* would qualify as an athiest. I believe in the presence of divine energy which can be called "God". The religious perceptions of God in a box, no.
My ex considered himself to be an athiest, but does magick. All I know is he does not believe in the concept of any god, but that he can work with energy.
I bet a Buddhist would be a "spiritual athiest".

I believe that everything is just trying to live long enough to reproduce, and nature has certain mechanisms that help it along and make it easier. So I think the internal desire for life is the main driving force.

That sounds sooooo silly: spiritual atheists, HA! None of them are spiritual, so WHY are they in the religion and spirituality section? To only taunt Christians.

when we leave religion we undergo a spiritual healing, there is a natural purpose for spirit, when we heal we feel part of something greater than us.. the church wants us to beleive it's god, but it's our environment, it's nature... and nature has a law far greater than that of religion....
the world is round..... the church preached the world is flat...
gravity is a law of nature.. the church condemned people who studied gravity as devil worshipers...
evolution is a law of nature... christians call us deceived...
nature and religion are not compatible....
