I think that grandparents are a great asset to the family structure, but not imperative. So if the grandparents offer a healthy and loving relationship to the child, then yes they should have access to visitations of whatever sort is feasible. When the grandparents are ignoring the wishes of the parents, causing distance with the parents, or not caring for the child appropriately then they should not be allowed contact. A healthy small family trumps a disfunctional large family any day.

Good question. My divorce papers say that my parents have over-night visitation with my son at least once a week. My ex hubby and I had 50/50 placement and custody. Now it's my full placement, but I think grandparents should have more rights then some jack a s s parents, that's for sure! LOL! Have a good one.

Yes they should. If the Grandparents have been good to the children why not?
There is a law called "Grandparensts Rights". They can take the parents to court if they've been told they are not allowed to see them. (And for whatever reason, you can say the grandparents are unfit and they can say the same thing about you....so be careful what you decide. )
A lot of dirt will come out of this, and on the parents too.

Only if custody or parental rights are removed from both parents because the parents are unfit - otherwise, grandparents should not have any legal standing whatsoever.
Can you imagine an unfit grandparent being granted legal access to your children over YOUR OWN wishes??!!!!!!!!

It depends yes.But my daughters grandparents are welcome to see their grandchild whenever they are over our way because it is too far away to visit. I have tried to be civil but for the sake of relatiionships but they are not courteous with me. There should be a clause that says that grandparents need to show courtesy to former in-laws for the sake of children and vice versa.
