Does root beer taste like medicine to you or is it just me?

It doesn't taste like medicine to me. I LOVE root beer. Especially from A & W.

I see someone else mentioned that they don't like Dr. Pepper. Me either. I couldn't choke it down even if I just finished a marathon. Cream soda too. That stuff is just horrid.

I don't like it either... nor Dr. Pepper. Has a horrible taste to me; I wish it didn't. I hear it's slightly different at least in the Far East.

Many people from other countries, I hear, don't like the taste either since they weren't brought up on it, some saying it tastes (or smells) like cough syrup or linament or an antiseptic ointment called Germolene, etc.

I read that it used to be made with sasparilla root ("root" beer for when it was hard to make real beer in the winter?), but that the oil from the root was deemed to be a mild carcinogen so not made with it any more.

I dont like root beer for those self same motives! yet my hubby on the different hand likes it. He does it some strange blah stuff even with the indisputable fact that that he makes up so i think he doesnt have flavor buds! lol

I like root beer especially with vanilla ice cream in it in a frosty mug.
