He probably heard that somewhere, but it's not a very respectful way to approach a lady. Still, he's probably acting out junk he's heard from other guys that thought that was cute to say. Just let him know you don't want to be stepped to that way. Once you clearly identify what you will and won't accept, most decent guys try to accomodate you because they'll want to be with you. Tell him he does NOT have the permission to "toss your salad"! Tell him no way and yes, be offended. Even if he means like make out with you, it's nt appropriate to put it that way, so try to avoid him.

Whether you should be offended or not depends on how well you know the guy. I would be very offended if that remark was from a total stranger!
