Isn't this kind of like quoting advertisments from the George Foreman grill that the George Foreman grill is the best grill of all time?

It is. I cannot fathom why my fellow christians try to use a text that their oponents in debate do not believe to be valid to prove a point.

Much more could be done if we ceased this practice and began to use only logic when discussing topics like this with those who do not believe in the bible.

Shows how much some Christians are utterly convinced.

Good point... so to prove that Foreman's grill is the best, you gotta buy it then try it. Same with the Bible, give it a chance, apply it, then think what you will.

I came out convinced.

The fact that many accounts of prohecy were accurately predicted 100's of years earlier is one reason. Another reason is that many of the "laws" and "rules" outlined in the old testament have been scientifically proven to be wise and good for people to practice. Only a grand designer would know about this when no human explanation was available.

The bible also points to areas outside of the bible where God is revealed.

By the way, why don't non-believers ever discuss "mind" versus "matter" as it concerns the origin of the universe?

It's called Begging the question, or circular reasoning.

You start with a premise (That God exist and the Bible is true) then you use every rationalization you can find, every wise sounding quote and point to "Historical accuracies of the bible "(Must be true right? there is a such a place as Israel}, once you come full circle and show that since the bible is god's word cause the bible says so, it must be literally true..

Right on, man. In response to each Bible reference, I quote all kinds of brilliant Atheists - alive and dead. Until the religionist runs out of references and leave the playing field to me. Nice question. Happy Hannukah (ha ha).

no, because people wrote and interpret the bible, not god...and god isn't making any profit...but plenty of tel-evangelists reading the book on TV are getting richer every day! on bogus fairy tales!
Besides, god is too busy watching people have sex...so if you have sex, you better be married! And you better not be gay, and you better not masturbate, and you better not use the bible as a door-stop! if this sounds ridiculous, try reading the bible...

George Foreman grills ARE the best...and so is God's Word.
Why should we lie about it?

Of course the Bible is not the only proof of God's existence! Just open your eyes and take a look at creation all around you.....Do you think all this just happened?
The awesome beauty of Creation is a wonderful expression of God's love....yet some still choose to ignore it...

However, for those of us who know and talk to God daily we have experiential proof He exists....everything from answered prayers to peace of mind....you name it ; we have allowed His Holy Spirit to come into us....and we hear His voice daily AND see the wonderful results of His intervention in our lives.

You cannot intrude into that type of evidence however until you act on God's Word and let Him into your life through faith in Jesus Christ.
That type of experiential proof is reserved for those who put their trust in Christ

It makes no sense. This method of debating is actually referred to as circular logic. I am part of the speech and debate club at my school, and it is strongly warned against. It proves absolutely nothing but the fact that the person using it is a fool. (Sorry about the lack of political correctness, but it's true)

Yes. It's called circular logic, a.k.a. begging the question. It's the most common logical fallacy associated with bible thumping.

Yes I know!
There is this one person on myspce who said "Proof that the bible is gods word? It claims to be."
It was funny. I liked your metaphor, I'll have to remember that one.
