1978 Ford column shift?

Old Fairmont. Just inside firewall, rod goes down to connector where trans rod attaches. Can't figure out how either side of it comes apart,

There are usually spring clips holding the rod to the shift lever on the column and a sliding or swivel joint at the trans lever which can be loosened/adjusted or removed with a bolt or another spring clip.
