What are some pros and cons of Television and children

Cons. Too much of it. Cable nowadays has kids indoors too much, and not outside playing with their friends. You can say the same about video games.
Pros. Maybe 1 or 2 good things for kids to watch, while mom takes a breather. Not like when I was a kid and their were many good things for a kid too watch.

Television is NEVER good for children before the age of two. After that television is only a positive if the parent watches with the child. Watching television alone teaches a child only to view, not to engage. It can actually retard language growth. If you're watching quality programming WITH your child it's good for them because they are receiving stimulating interaction. A child should not watch tv alone until, at minimum the age of 7 and then you should be very careful about what programming they are allowed to watch. There is a lot of crap television out there.

kids don't know much, with video games, they'd be learning from them rather than learning how to do more educational things with people around them. kids are a blank slate, if you were at build a bear, you wouldn't pump him full of violence, you'd fill him with kisses and rainbows so he'd be a sweet bear.
