Follow Susan's advice. You can make it by hand, food processor, mixer, bread machine......etc. I recommend making it by hand the 1st time. Get a feel for the dough and an understanding of how the dough transforms from flour into pizza dough. If you do choose to use a mixer in the future, I recommend using a food processor. I have both a kitchenaid stand mixer and a food processor and a bread machine, and I prefer the food processor for dough,

Toni, there is no special ingredient to make your pizza crisp, there are three things to keep in mind as follows: When you roll out your dough, make sure it is not thick, The cooking process will make it rise anyway, if it is a thick dough it will not be crispy. Your oven heat has to be up to temp before you put your pizza in. Toppings, don't overload your pizza with too many toppings, in generates more moisture than the dough can handle, this also affects the end product. Chris

The only machine you need is at the end of your arms. People have been making bread and pizza without the aid of machinery for thousands of years.
If you do have a bread machine you can use it to proof and knead the dough. Then take it out when it comes time to roll it out into a pizza shape.
I hope this answers your questions.

No, you don't need either. You will have a flour component and an oil/shortening component; mix all the dry ingredients together, then add the fat component with your fingers, squishing it into the flour until it resembles tiny crumbles. Then add the liquid component until the dough comes together.
Don't forget to poke holes all over your dough with a fork and maybe even pre-bake your crust for a crispier crust. Good luck!

Yes, yoiu can use a bread machine and it turns out yummy! Add some minced garlic to the flour and your seasonings. Then when you turn it out, flatten it into your pan and let rise another 15 minutes then you are good to go!
