No. The world would not be better. Would the world be better without farming? Certainly, we wouldn't be in the overpopulation problem if we never took hoe to the soil, because the forests would all still be here. But we also would not have developed all the beautiful things we've made. Everything good has a bad side as well that can be harness by evil people. But, they are all tools in seeing the world. Every tool, from Atheism to Christianity to Islam to Buddhism to Neopaganism are languages we use to make sense of a world too confusing for any human mind to comprehend all of it.

In the West our universities originated from monasteries all over Europe, and our modern hospitals were originally convents. If you think universities and hospitals are good, than you have to conclude that religion has had a good effect on our society. Wars are the result of bad politics, not good religion.

THE END OF
FALSE RELIGION
IS NEAR!
What is false religion? Are you distressed about crimes committed in the name of religion? Do the warfare, terrorism, and corruption perpetrated by those who claim to serve God offend your sense of justice? Why does religion seem to be at the root of so many problems?
The fault lies, not with all religion, but with false religion. A widely respected religious figure, Jesus Christ, indicated that false religion produces bad works, just as a “rotten tree produces worthless fruit.” (Matthew 7:15-17) What fruit does false religion yield?
False Religion . . .
MEDDLES IN WAR AND POLITICS: “Across Asia and beyond,” says the journal Asiaweek, “power-hungry leaders are cynically manipulating people’s religious sentiments for their own needs.” As a result, the journal warns: “The world threatens to sink into madness.” A prominent religious leader in the United States declared: “You’ve got to kill the terrorists before the killing stops.” His solution? “Blow them all away in the name of the Lord.” By contrast, the Bible says: “If anyone makes the statement: ‘I love God,’ and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar.” (1 John 4:20) Jesus even said: “Continue to love your enemies.” (Matthew 5:44) How many religions can you think of whose members engage in war?

Religion has a long long history of horrific associations with war and other human indignities. Yes... religion is a harmful institution overall. It stands in the way of science, logical and honest politics and it offers a continuous "reason" for divisions between people. It's high time to stand firmly against it's growth and special privileges in our free societies.

Yes, I do. But I also think religions do a lot of good. The problem is when religions becomes so full of themselves and feel that they are the only "right" in the world.

It relies upon on what the religion is and despite if human beings persist with the policies of that faith. working example, the Islamic faith has policies that say to no longer injury others. in spite of the undeniable fact that, the persons who have been flying the planes into the twin Towers claimed that they have been Muslims, yet they massacred harmless human beings. As Christians we are meant to be loving, yet lots of people who declare they are do no longer even attempt to be. So the respond is up for debate.
