I appreciate the overall point of the statement. I'm a Christian, and strongly support scientific exploration. To me, scientific research helps us understand the world around us, and as such, should definitely be encouraged, rather than hindered. It bothers me to see religion used as an excuse to deter scientific advancement.

I am a religious person, and I like the quote. I wonder what he meant when he said "hardly" any major religion. Did he have some religions in mind that he considered exceptions?

to annoyed... what he is getting at is that when science makes new advancements it is always the religious who drag their feet and say no this is not true,or its evil, god does not want this etc. and that is a very true statement
