To most strong athiests. The universe is a bundle of pointless matter. And the only place we go would be into the ground.
Praise God that that isn't the case. Life is pointless without God.

Was that atheist or anti-theist? Anyway I don't believe the Universe was created. The Universe is the set of all things. Its not an object. People often ask me well then has the Universe always existed. But this is a nonsensical question. Because always is a temporal word. Time is apart of the Universe it does not supersede the Universe. If the Universe was created then what does it exist in? Does it exist in the Universe? Its called the fallacy of composition. The Universe is the set of all things everything that exists - exists within the Universe. But the Universe itself does not exist in anything because it is the set of all things.
When we die we cease to exist. Life as a whole is profound and unique. Intelligent life is mind boggling. But life on an individual scale is meaningless. This is why we procreate. The Human body and all living organisms for that matter is a vessel for selfish genes. We die but our genes carry on. Death is the permanent end of a living organism no less no more.

Here's my answer, with (genuinely) no disrespect.
It wasn't created. It's general lifelessness and randomness shows that. As far as we know life only exists on Earth, and do you have any idea how tiny that is in the Solar System, never mind the Galaxy? The Universe?
Some things, like buildings, were created. Some, like people and animals, develop with the help of others. Some things, like rocks, have formed by natural process.
People far brighter than I'll ever be are currently working on the question of how the Universe began. Some are religious, some not. I personally take the view that something had to happen so it did.
As for what happens after I die, the rest of the world will carry on. That's what life after death is, and it's enough for me. If I do continue to experience things after I'm gone I'll treat that as a welcome bonus.

I think that when I die, I am dead...that's it.
As for the creation of the universe...why it is that people have no problem believing in a God that is eternal (i.e. has always existed) but are unable to fathom the possibility that the matter the makes up the universe or the matter that gave rise to the universe after the Big Bang was eternal?
For me, it seems far more sensible to believe matter can be eternal, than deity.

I'm not sure who you are asking. What's an "athehist"?
I don't believe it is or was a WHO, I don't believe any BEING did it.
You're limiting your ability to understand the thoughts of other people by questioning only from the perspective that a being did it and that souls exist. We don't think a being did it, and we don't believe in souls, so we don't "go" anywhere.

A. The fact you think someone has to create the universe shows there is a supreme being, and you ask atheists who created it? Do you not think that is an oxymoron?
B. The fact you believe in fairy tales does not make it truth. Most atheists will tell you, when you die you die.

I believe that no one created the universe. I also believe that once you die, you're dead. And every minute you wasted in this life is gone forever, and you won't be rewarded for spending your time believing or not believing one myth over another. So as to where you go when you die, it's the cemetery of your choice.

The world was made because of the big bang, and who made the big bang you ask? Well no one knows really but I don't think it was some man/thing/being up there who was bored and decided to play around with the cosmos for a while. People all have different opinions, and they are all valid if no one really know the answer.

No one, nowhere.
That pretty much sums it up, I think.
But if you're wanting something a little more in depth:
The universe doesn't have a creator but the planets all formed thanks to the Big Bang, and your body decays after death. The end. I don't believe in souls, so...your body decaying would pretty much be it.
(Sorry, I'm feeling lazy today.)
Happy holidays. :)

Who says someone had to have created the universe? I don't believe anyone created the universe. I believe when you die, that's it. You're dead. Also, atheist can be pluralized and only has one "h" in it.

IT was the Big Bang, but don't let the name limit your understanding of it.
We die and that is it. The molecules that make up my body (after I donate my organs and am cremated) are released back to the earth. Those molecules become part of the earth and later on, part of another galaxy or star. We never stop existing. All the atoms in your body have been there since the beginning.
