I got a migraine yesterday at around 11, and got one today around the same time. It feels like my eyes are going to explode, the right half of my forehead is pounding, and I'm sick to my stomach. Yesterday's didn't get better until I went to sleep. I've been sleeping since I got home from school at 4, I just got up and my headache is just as bad. I've eaten saltines, drank water and apple juice, and put with a cool wet cloth on my eyes. None of it is helping. I took Advil because it's all we have at our house. I can't concentrate in school when they hit me, I get dizzy and extremely tired, I fell asleep on my friend's shoulder at an academic match while waiting to play quick recall and had to be shaken awake, they said it took a long time to wake me up. What can I do? I woke up to do my homework, it's going to be impossible to do my algebra with this migraine. I've only had 3 or 4 migraines ever, over this summer. I'm 15.

They definitely are migraines. They are always on one side of the face only, and cause nausea. You should just stay in a dark, quiet bedroom. Avoid cheese, red wine (even though you're too young for that. But remember that for the future,) chocolate, and oranges. Get a note from your doctor, so if you get one at school you can go home.

There are many great medications for migraines. They include: Imitrex, Topamax, Fioricet, Fiorinal, Midrin, Maxalt, Relpax, Zomig, Frova, Acular, Axert, Anaprox, and Oridus. You are not alone, my dear. Please see a doctor so you never have to suffer one of these horrible headaches again!

I wish you the best of luck. :)

Has anyone else around you at that time complained of a headache, not a migraine but a headcahe?
If your attacks are happening at the same time of day are you in the same place each day at that time?
It could very well be an allergy trigger to something in your environment. Something in that place that triggers your attacks.Anything from the chemicals used to clean, carpet cleansers, new carpet with it's chemical treatments, insulation, ect. Or even a perfume or cologne worn by someone around you at that same time.

The reason I asked if anyone else has a headache, is that carbon monoxide triggers headaches and if others have a headache at the same time and place there could be a leak in that area of carbon monoxide. This time of year as we start to heat our homes, ect. is when we see more exposures.

If you suspect that is a possibility, go outside and breathe in deeply and see if that helps with the pain, if it does get to an ER for treatment with oxygen it is the ONLY treatment that will clear the carbon monoxide from the blood. It replaces the oxygen in the blood and that causes us to get a horrible headache if the exposure is high, or over a prolonged period of time. Have the Fire Dept. do a check of your home and school.

If you think it is carbon monoxide, the hospital can do an arterial blood gas to see what your oxygen levels in the blood are. From that they can determine how much and how long you need treatment while there.

If you're having them at the same time... look at what you're eating for breakfast. My migraines are triggered by a food allergy (MSG and Aspertame/Nutra-sweet specifically). If you've done something different to your breakfast, it could present itself in a midmorning migraine. As for what to do with your migraine when it shows up.... dark, quiet, and cold are your best bet. Advil should help open your blood vessles... also, caffine helps some people (unless thats whats causing it).

The reason your symptoms are hittin the way they are is because your body knows its broken and just wants to sleep it off. If they continue, you're gonna have to go to the doctor. Migraines can fail you out of school.. TRUST ME! (thank you summer school 1996!)

It could be from something you are eating or drinking. Mine are triggered by nitrates in meat , and smelly perfume or other strong smells like leaves burning. Or flickering lights and fluorescent light fixtures overhead.
