Could be a plantar wart.
See a doctor if it doesn't go away on it's own.

I have this exact issue but I have high arches. I used to work for Oreilly doing the same things but I never had pain like this. My feet hurt in the heel only (they hurt all over but it goes away everywhere else except the heel) and my legs have sharp pains and I end up walking like I'm 80 instead of 26 (I could and want to lose 80 lbs) and that's what scares me ( the walking hunched over and limping from pain) j tried icy hot ( always worked in the past) and icy hot no linger works. I wear good shoes with nice arch support but I'm more concerned about the pain being so bad I'm hunched over and limping help me!!

Callus. Soak your feet for about 20 minutes a day. Use a pumas stone to soften the skin. Never cut skin unless its done professional.

See a skin doctor or podiatrist.

Sounds like callouses.
If you can't trim it, use some sand paper and sand it down. You'll know when your reaching live flesh.
