Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate or semisweet chocolate, chopped
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Place chopped chocolate in a small microwave-safe bowl; nuke for 30 sec in HIGH, stir, nuke again, stir- repeat until chocolate is completely melted; set aside and cool. Beat cream cheese and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add melted chocolate, milk and vanilla, beat at low speed until smooth. If necessary, add additional milk 1 tsp at a time for desired speading consistency. Frost cakes, cupcakes or bars; store frosted items covered in refrigerator.

OR

Chocolate buttercream frosting
6 tablespoons butter or margarine (softened)
2 2/3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup cocoa (I prefer Ghirardelli)
4-6 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-Beat the butter in a medium mixing bowl. Add powdered sugar and cocoa alternately with milk, beating to spreading consistency. Stir in vanilla.

Either one works. Both are outstanding!

I've mixed melted chocolate chips (in the microwave with a sprinkle of water) with cream cheese. You need to ice your cake or cupcakes while the frosting's still warm.
