okay, I'm going to tell you my religious views. Then you're gonna tell me if my beliefs fall under the "atheist" category, or the "agnostic" category. (or maybe something else?)

I definitely not christian, or any other organized religion. I don't agree with any of their beliefs or moral stances. I don't know if there is a god or not, but I have never felt any closeness to one or known one. I think there's probably not a god, but I don't think there's any way to know. I don't think god talks to people and I don't get the point of praying.

So... which one does that make me? Athiest or Agnostic?

(and don't try to convert me... I'm not an ignorant person. I've spent my life researching and I know quite a bit on the subject of christianity.)

Both, as they are not exclusive terms (though some think they are)

Agnostic: You deem that there isn't enough knowledge or evidence upon which to believe in a god (A-gnostic =without knowledge). So you are easily an agnostic.

Atheist: You do not have faith in any god. A "weak atheist" is what this is called (different than a strong atheist, who would say with certainty there is no god.)

I am similar to you, though slightly less agnostic in that I think that nature shows we could easily live in a fully-naturalistic universe.

Regardless, feel free to use either label, or none at all. After all, we don't have terms for those who don't believe in astrology or alchemy. It's vary rare that is comes up, but for some reason most folks are more comfortable with agnosticism, for some reason, so maybe just use that one.

You're a bit of both, but lean towards the atheist side.

If you were Agnostic, you would simply state that there is no proof of God available, so you don't know whether he exists or not. Agnosticism is based upon logic, not faith (and since there is no proof God does or does not exist, at least empirical evidence that we can see, measure, and observe), and since you state above that you think there's probably not a god, that begins to profess a faith, which results you falling more towards the atheist camp.

I should point out that you can be both an Agnostic and an Atheist - they are not mutually exclusive. You can, on one hand, state that you do not believe in god (thus proclaiming your faith in atheism), and then state that regardless of your faith, from a logical standpoint, you don't know if god exists.

Sounds more like you're agnostic. Atheists fully, do not believe in God. Agnostics are unsure.

I personally feel that agnostics are atheists that just aren't willing to commit.

"but I don't think there's any way to know."
Agnostic.

"you sound like my now dead brother in law. hmm, I wonder where he is spending eternity?"

Look, friends, at the love and caring nature of the religious.

"you are more than likely all about yourself and care for no one, and a good time , drinks and the party life is all you are about,"

How proud your lord would be of you. "Judge not lest ye be juged". Aside from that, it's amazing how much you can deduce about someone based on the fact that they don't believe the words of a book written 2000 years ago. Just to let you know, I don't drink or party nor have I or will I ever have promiscous sex.

agnostic

"I don't know if there is a god or not," gave it away. that is the main difference between atheists and agnostics. Atheists believe that there is no god. agnostics aren't sure but haven't ruled out either possibility

I'd say you are definately an atheists. I feel so very sorry for you. I wouldn't try to convert you because you have shut your eyes and heart to the Lord. Once you have done that IT MAY BE TOO LATE FOR YOU TO CONVERT. I think it would be a waste of time for each of us. You may not be ignorant in most things ,BUT, you are sure ignorant on the Lord, the Bible, and Christianity. It's too bad because there's so much to be gained by it. Some one has filled your head. How else would you be so dead set against it? If you've studied Christianity for your life then you must be VERY < VERY young. It's too bad that you can't give it a try because you are facing hell and no way back.

You are definitely agnostic, your views are a textbook definition of agnosticism. I don't mean that in a bad way, it's the truth. I was an agnostic for 17 years.
