i have seen many questions and answers here saying that Allah is only the God of the Muslims...and Muslims people in Allah...and so on......Allah is not the God of Muslims...Allah is simply the translation of the word God in the Arabic language....even the Christians and Jews who speak arabic refer to God as Allah....so Allah is not the Muslim's God, its simply the way you say God in Arabic! just wanted to clear that up!

Notice how closely the Hebrew "Yahweh" and the Arabic "Allah" sound when you say them.

Semitic languages.

I have Arab Christian friends who say "Allah" when praying.

Below me: Sorry pal, but the Judeo-Christian god IS the twisted, vindictive mentally ill character you describe.

Yes and no.

YES, Allah, as used by the Christians, is the right word for God, in the Arabic language. That is valid for all monotheistic religions.

NO,: because the idea of God in Islam differs a lot from the Christian God.

So Christians and Muslims may agree on a word (Allah) or a number (He is One), but the concept is not the same.

Some people see Islam and its practices as something foreign and for Arabs. However they don't realize that Judaism and Christianity as well as Islam all began within the same cultures, and the same region of the world. Some also believe that the Quran was "copied" from Jewish and Christian texts, yet forget that they all three are from the same source, and it would be the same as saying the Bible was copied from the Torah.

Many people do recognize that the Muslims worship the same God as the Jews and Christians, and bravo to them for educating themselves. However we can't blame all those who believe otherwise, especially when their religious leaders whom they trust stand in congregation and tell them what they want them to hear. It's not always their fault, although they would do themselves good to learn about things for themselves.

Many people also bring up the issue about the relationship between Jesus and God, and that we (Muslims) do not revere Jesus as the son of God or a part of God, so we don't worship the same entity. However the Jews do not worship Jesus either, so those who say this aren't doing themselves any good. Just as well, those who believe in the trinity believe that God is three entities in one, so basically we're only worshipping a third. Muslims worship the God that Adam, Abraham, Noah, Moses, and Jesus worshipped, so if we're worshipping a different God, then it wouldn't make sense for them to revere the words of those prophets.

Corrosion: ever consider the Hebrew word Eloh? You've probably heard the plural form of it; Elohim (apologies to any Jews who may be offended). Eloh...Allah. And if I'm not mistaken, the Aramaic (the language of Jesus) for God is Ellah or Illah or something similar.

Nice try, but it will take more than word games to fool the educated. Allah is recorded in ISLAMIC scripture as being the head of the pagan polytheistic pantheon of Mecca before Muhammad came along and promioted him (you might remember he tried to promote Allah's two sisters as well, but was vetoed by his followers). If Allah was just the word "God" in Arabic, then why the phrase "There is no Illah but Allah"?

Allah is the Islamic God. I have studied Islamic scripture and judeo-Christian scripture, as you no doubt have not, and there is no connection between Allah and the God of Moses and Jesus. They are nothing alike, and I find it very offensive for Muslims to suggest that they are the same. The Judeo-Christian god is NOT a simplistic, demented, sadistic, schizophrenic, inconsistent, illogical, irrational being such as Allah is.

According to radical Muslim fractions, aArabic Allah needs help from puny humans especially in destroying other human lives. Is this God preserve lives or destroy lives?
But, almighty God does not require the help of puny human's help and he hates murder.
He will definetly not sanction killing like arabic Allah.
The worst case is Arabic Allah denegrades women. That is why he lets men to take umpteen number of women if they are rich treating women as subhuman

Linguestically it is so, but Jews and Christians do not believe in what Muslim say 'People of the Book' (Jews and Chriatian) worship the same God.

They do in essence, but they have twisted the Unity of this one God and/or have disregarded some of His messengers.

Get over it. People just aren't quite as educated as you are. obviously. At least they read the news, which is probably where they got the general idea.
