Dale Jarrett is retiring after 6 races. Also, Ward Burton, JJ Yeley, Jeremy Mayfield, and Scott Riggs.

1. One of the Red Bull drivers (A.J. Allmendinger or Brian Vickers). Scott Speed is learning how to drive a stock car, so unless Red Bull has an idea to expand to a 3rd car, worst driver loses their seat in a Red Bull car.
2. David Ragan. Its the 6 car hes driving. It has a lot of history. Roush is about performance. If Ragan does not shape up this coming season, expect Ragan to be out of a ride in 2009
3. David Gilliand. Its looking like now that Kentucky performance on that June night in 2005 was nothing more than a flash in the pan, though to defend him, Yates isnt what it used to be. Im sure if he cant pull off some Top 10's, he will be out of a ride.
4. Elliott Sadler. Evernham now has an infusion of money, which should mean that the team should hopefully improve. If Elliott Sadler is not performing well even after Gillett buying a part of the team, I do actually see him gone.
5. Carl Edwards. As odd as this may seem, I have a feeling in my gut on this one, due to the feud with Matt Kenesth. What has Edwards done compared to Kenesth, the top driver at Roush right now? Roush has actually kicked out drivers that are good that had bad attitudes (see Kurt Busch), so if the two are gonna keep on feuding, Roush will have to settle it soon, and since Edwards hasnt really showed the promise that he had in his "rookie" year, the door could be shown for him.
I also want to add. I think its a bit too easy to say Ward Burton or John Andretti, as the 4 and 49 teams are pretty much wrecks. Guarenteed, put my life savings on it, at least one of the teams will be having 3 or more drivers riding the car in one season, if they last the season

I understood the question. 5 guys who will loose their rides. Ummm, Jeremy Mayfield (again), an open wheel guy or two (Sam Hornish for sure!), the 36, 4 and 49 will be a revolving set of drivers, maybe David Ragan if he doesn't start running mid-to-upper pack. Reed Sorenson b/c Chip Ganassi is a jerk, but it will be better for Reed in the end because Ganassi will never be more than mediocre and Reed is a talented driver.
Some guys I feel may voluntarily leave their rides: Greg Biffle, Brian Vickers, David Reutimann, Joe Nemechek.

I see now, when you said top 5 I thought you meant good drivers, you're looking for the 5 most likely drivers to be fired.

I don' think an open wheel driver will be let go without running a full season. Now AJ Allmendinger is under contract until 2009, but I can see him be let out of his contract early.

Martin might retire at the end of the year. Andretti will be car hopping. David Reagan needs to step it up. Shrader will probably hang it up. Jarrett will also retire.

Number 1 , I am a friend of David Reutimann, and let me make one thing clear , he is not leaving next year, he has a contract with Micheal Waltrip racing and Mikey loves David , so he going to keep him.I think who is going to leave,Scott Wimmer,David G. and some others.
