How liberal are you if as a nation you stop christians from wearing crosses, muslims from praying in public..
and if you are easily offended by people openly practicing their faiths? (evangelising, praying, teaching of the faith, tithing, etc)
if you cringe at The Lord's prayer, or a muslim headscarf?
Just HOW "Liberal" are you?
Or is it your self-centred desires you want to fulfill?

Muslims in certain european and american airports are not allowed to pray in public.
Christians are seen as harrassing when they practice their faith by evangelising.

Since when did we ban such behavior or publicly condemn it? You're speaking to only a small group of people who are offended by such things.

I don't know where you live but Crosses aren't forbidden except in Muslim-led countries; muslims not wearing 'scarves' or praying in public one might guess that someone were offended when in actuallity there are places that will advise against loose clothing or blocking the aisle for safety concerns raised by diligent, trained, certified, and paid Safety Engineers. This is not about censor of religious practice, any blue-collar worker knows why ties and bulbous sleeves are hazardous in the workplace. As to separation of Church and State,hm, do you realize that 'and' separates those two words? Do you have a preference on which state? or which church? If you intend for each of us to believe that no politician should ever be religious and vice versa then consider this that since Atheism is a religion then there does not exist any politician that is NOT religious. Our fore fathers did not want any singular religion to become a partner to governing this FREE land. Definition of Church = Fellowship as trnslated from the Greek; not religion. College Professors are allowed to impose their thoughts on students, teachers, too! So who really is free from religious evangelism? No one!

I'm completely liberal. There needs to be a FULL separation of church and state. I don't need teachers preaching the gospel to me or to my posterity.
However, Christians are allowed to wear crosses, Muslims can wear their head scarfs, heck, people can stop in the middle of the street and pray for my life for all I care.
There's a difference between separation of church and state and what you are describing.
Christians are not being oppressed by being told that no, public schools will not teach the Bible as a required course.
I believe everyone has a right to their own beliefs. If you believed that as well, you would be liberal.

Let me preface that I am extremely liberal and an animist.
Ok, I have no problem with people believing in whatever religion they want. You're more than welcome to wear the trappings of your religion so long as it fits within the norms of society. (A religion requiring people to walk around unclothed just wouldn't be feasible, know what I mean?)
You can practice your prayer on your own time, even in public, if you so desire, so long as you don't require others to practice with you. Prayer in schools isn't on your own time, it's on taxpayer time. There are a LOT of non-Christian taxpayers. If the kids want to pray during recess, that's fine with me. Recess = free time in my book.
Some people have taken the need to include to mean that we need to exclude all. This means that in order to not offend anyone, many believe that nobody should be allowed to wear their religious symbol publicly, for example. I believe this method is a fallacy. Acceptance is only gained through exposure and understanding. Christians should be able to wear their crosses so long as they don't try to get stupid over Wiccans wearing their pentacles or Muslims wearing burkas and praying during their required times, or Hindus wearing the dot thinger on their forehead.
In order for an open, democratic society to function, we ALL must either accept all or restrict all equally.

This whole country is about cry baby whining liberals now. That's all we hear about. "Oh NO! Don't use the word Christmas!" "No, YOu can't use that certain color of christmas lights be cause they're too religious", "You can't have nativity scenes, they're offensive.", "Take down that cross, it might be offensive.", "Don't read that Bible in public, it's offensive.", "Don't bow your head to pray at a public dinner or at a football game, it's offensive." If you people don't like it get the heck out of this country. I wouldn't go to a muslim nation and be offended because they were doing muslim practices, I'd expect it to happen and respect their religion. Thanks to all of the liberals of this country no one is happy anymore. Just remember, Jesus has supremacy over all political correctness. How ignorant you people are to just drop morals to be "politically correct." Just because the law makes it legal doesn't make it moral: abortion, homosexuality, transgenders, pornography, prostitution and so on. But all of these politically correct liberals are changing a country that used to have morals into a country that has NO morals. Thanks liberals, thanks for screwing us all.

I am not offended by anything you mentioned and I am a liberal-leaning libertarian. I do realize that freedom of religion goes both ways and the same freedoms that give me the right to wear my Thor's Hammer and self-publish my devotionals to my various Gods gives Christians the right to wear crosses and Muslims the right to wear headscarves.
I just don't support government endorsement of those religions nor do I want my tax dollars going towards the teaching and enforcement of faiths that are not my own.
Do what you want, just keep your religion out of my politics, and out of my pocketbook.

Here we go again. Kids CAN pray in school, on their own time. Lunch hour, recess, home room, etc. Teachers and other school personnel cannot lead classes in prayer, or do something that favors one religion over all the others. They are supposed to be spending school hours teaching, not preaching.

Yeah, that isn't liberal at all. That sounds more like a fear or hatred of religion that is cloaked in political terminology.
