ugh they are disgusting... yet they keep selling them and people keep buying them and the receivers of these god awful gifts keep throwing them out!!

I think that's a stereotype. The Claxton people have been making money selling fruitcake for years.
Me, personally, I like to moisten a fruitcake with rum or brandy. It's also good warmed up with a little butter.

I don't know- I like fruitcake. There is a bakery in Texas- I can't remember their name- but their fruitcakes are delicious! My Mom used to get me one every year for Christmas and I'd eat the entire thing myself (took a few weeks). With a good cup of coffee, fruitcake is pretty good1

I don't know because I love them & bought one yesterday. To get a really good fruitcake you need to order one from a monastary; the ones in the grocery stores are nothing in comparison.
