l had it done for the first time in a salon and i loved it!
but once it wears off can i do the same thing easily at home?

how hard it is for a first timer to do it themelves.
heres wat we have at home-is it possible?
new-ish straightening iron
old normal hairdryer (not one of the salon style ones with squished ends)
normal flat broad brush.
any really good step by step easy advice?
i have blonde hair that is about 2 heads lengths (sorry didnt know how else to measure it)
i also cant take 2 hours like the salon lady did so a shorter simpler method would be preferable.

I don't use hair straightners as they really damage hair...but here is what I do.
Towel dry your hair after washing it, brush your hair thru, then put the top half up & out of the way & dry the underneath half in sections - the trick is to pull the hair straight with your hairbrush (to do this, put the brush on your head underneath the section of hair your going to dry & wiggle it on your head side to side before moving the hairbrush out & downwards, it will keep the hair taught) & blow dry the hair at a downwards angle. The airflow should be on the hair which has just passed the bristles - hairbrush & hairdryer move together until you get to the end then repeat until that section is dry. You will get pretty sore arms until you get used to it but you have to hold the hairdryer above your head so it's blowing downwards on the section of hair.
Do this for all other sections, then take the top half of your hair & do the same.
When it is dry, get some good hairspray ( I use frizz-ease), spray it onto your hair at one side, then re-dry it, (brushing it thru) holding it straight, then do the back then the other side. This way it wont go wavy/frizzy as soon as you go outside.

It takes me about 20 mins to do but when I was a teenager it used to take more like an hour! Practice makes perfect I guess!

Oh and a big flat paddle brush is the best for this. Don't use a round brush unless you want curly hair!

Blow Dry Hair Straight

Flip your head and blow dry your hair until it is just a bit damp. Stand up straight again and using your brush (preferably a round brush) pick up chunks of your hair, pulling straight and blow dry as you pull the brush through. Since you have a straightening iron, once you blow dry your hair (never use the iron on wet hair) you can run the iron through to get a sleek, very straight look.

Some tips:
Use a heat protecting oil/creme before using the iron. I like Chi's product the best...but Redkin (brown bottle) makes a decent one at a reasonable price.
Don't hold the blow dryer too close to your hair (that will make it frizzy and damage it.)
When you are done drying, (if you have a cool setting) use it to help the hair set and reduce frizzies.

When your hair is still wet, put some heat protecting product in it (you can find it @ drugstores, places like Target/Walmart, etc). Run a wide-tooth comb through your hair to get out any tangles. Dry your hair while brushing it with your flat broad brush, following each brush stroke @ the same time with your hair dryer. Don't keep the dryer in one spot for more than 2 seconds though, and don't get it too close to your head.
After your hair is dry, you need a straightening product (this is my all time FAVE- http://www.folica.com/TIGI_Bed_Head_C_d2009.html ). If you don't put any in, your hair might not get as straight/hold the straightness as long. Next, put on some kind of smoothing serum (to protect from the straightener's heat and prevent frizz/etc).
Then straighten!

I just sit on a chair and turn my head upside down between my knees and blow dry on high from the back to the front. After it is dry, I stand up and smooth it out, spray a little spray-net on my hands and smooth the hairs down. By the way, I use Pantene everything. If you use the shampoo, be sure to buy the correct type for your hair.

Try using your brush at the same time. What you do id you have your hair brush in one hand and put it through your hair a little. Then put the hair dryer on where the bristles of your brush so its drying your hair at the same time. Brush down your hair with the dryer on the brush. Do that with the rest of your hair.
