Everyone in this section seems to keep saying "global warming doesnt exist. You dont believe kn science, because science is factual" and things like that. What bugs me is that global warming actually is happening. the only thing people are disputing is whether it is natural or caused by man. sciencetific data states that the erath is warming up. what scientific data doesn't state is whether it is man made or natural. so dispute this, not whether or not global warming exists.

Global warming isn't caused by man, pollution is caused by man, but global warming is natural. That's how I see it.

Everything is relative. By that I mean you can claim global warming is a FACT if you base it on say a time frame of X number of years. By that same token you could say that the planet is cooling if you compared it to a period in the past where global temperatures where much higher.
The earth's temperature has been fluctuating for millions of years, long before the internal combustion engine or nitrate fertilizers. Temperatures have been climing for the last couple hundred thousand years. CO2 as a percentage of the atmosphere has been climinga as well during that time. If anything data I have seen suggest that things have moderated in recent history.
Do some research and you might ask yourself some real questions. My favorite is what is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton without racism? What is Al Gore without Global Warming? Any question any of them have any real interest in seeing either topic die?

I'll have a go at this. I'm one of those people who keeps saying things like "I dont belive in global warming" when actually i mean "I dont belive in Man Made global warming". i do this partly because I'm a lazy typer but mostly because I've been listening so long to people blaming man and to a large extent America for Global warming. In my mind, on the internet atleast, Global warming equals Man made global warming. Weather thats right or wrong thats what I think when I see the words. Sometimes I take the time to be specific about what I belive but sometimes i'm just so sick of the argument I crank out an answer.

A lot of people here acknowledge the scientific reality that humans are the primary cause of the current global warming.
Yahoo Answers is a rather peculiar site where small groups tend to gather. For example, if you go to the politics section you'll see an enormous amount of support for Ron Paul, when in reality he only has a couple percent of the Republican vote.
The same is true in global warming - for some reason a lot of people who are in denial about the scientific reality gather on this website. I'm not really sure why - maybe because it's a place where they can feel like a serious and significant group, since in reality they're such a small minority.
Regardless, in the grand scheme of things they're simply unimportant. A small minority of deniers won't stop the rest of us from tackling this critical issue.

Chik, The theory that Hansen puts forth is so full of holes that it causes not only the debate on man made CO2 warming, but now many scientists are debating the basic temperature data used accuracy.
The "deniers" do have some good questions that need to be addressed. I am an engineer and have always tried to get to the facts. I welcome opposing observations and theories.
The majority of "Scientists" thought the world was flat at one time. The majority thought the moon was a star at one time. The majority thought we were all going to freeze at one time.

Many people in this section are mixing their political beliefs with their objective analysis of the issues.
Have there been temperature fluctuations in the past...yes. Have these temperature fluctuations occurred in very short time frames (within 50 years)...it doesn't appear so.
On top of this data, computer models verify that the increased CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere have increased average global temperatures.

NO! The scientific data shows that global warming is happening AND that it is "man made." Among the scientific community neither of these two statements are in debate. There are a few dissenters, but they are a small minority.

i agree. with you. i read some of the answers people put up, and they say its natural. well i disagree strongly with them, yess in a way it is natural but yet mankind has helped increase the rapid growth rate in just the last 10 years! id strongly encourage & suggest for everyone who thinks that global warming doesnt exist and for those who do to watch PLANET IN PERIL on the animal discovery channel. your jaws will drop. it'll leave you speechless

There is no doubt that climate change is anthropogenic (human caused). The IPCC (international panel on climate change), the world's smartest scientists who study this have concluded on some order of 98 percent accuracy that climate change is indeed caused by humans (not just that it the warming itself is happening). The idea that there is somehow "doubt" about this pure science is cooked up by conservative think tanks like the CEI (competitive enterprise institute [the people who made the laughable glaciers-melting-in-reverse commercial]).
The earth's surface temperatures have indeed changed over the history of the planet, but never as fast as they are now. This sudden acceleration perfectly coincides with the start of releasing carbon into our atmosphere at the onset of the industrial revolution. Antarctic ice core records (which trap tiny bubbles of air in them, telling both the history of temperature and co2 concentration) prove this.
The only "debate" left open is if saving our planet from huge amounts of harm, which we can easily do, is worth the short term profit loss.
I hope this was helpful.

the earth has gone through phases of heating up and cooling down before, its not uncommon, it has been recorded that in the past the average temperature of the earth has gone up a few degrees as well as down.
I dont beleive that we are in any immediate danger of being wiped of the face of the earth due to global warming.

You should watch how you write your statements, you shouldn't use terms like "Everyone" since it shows how uninformed you really are. On here and about the topic you are asking a question about.
