There are two reasons people hate the Jailhouse tat - one, they tend to look like crap - and second, it's usually VERY obvious that it's a Jailhouse tat (which means that you are telling the world that you've served time behind bars)...
But for tattoos in general - it's usually either a poor choice of design (including names of now ex-girlfriends - or bands you USED to like), or because you were following the current TREND ;););)

A lot of people get them without thinking about it. They just go out and decide they want a tattoo, and it has no meaning to them. It is spur of the moment and a fad. jailhouse ones just look bad, so after seeing it on your skin for a while you just stop and wonder what you where thinking. I personally love my tattoos, and have no regrets, but i do know some people who do. They either wish they wouldn't have gotten it or wish they would have gotten it done by someone better. Life changes, tattoos don't, if your going to get one make sure it is something that will always have meaning to you.

hi plumber,
ok some reasons,
the quality of the actual job.
if its dark and blurry for eg. or if its a great pic,but badly done.
the reason for it, in case of a "group" you no longer are with, ditto a person... can be a tad embarassing i guess.
as we grow and develop and change in ourselves, maybe wearing a reminder of a past you, that isn't the "now you" has a big bearing.
as our bodies age the art work sags as we do...bummer!
mind you theres going to be some wiiiild old folks homes displays at tub n swimming times.
i always wanted one, but the quality of the colours and lines was,nt that good i wanted it permanently.
now that they are great, i am too old to be bothered with any inbuilt "tags" funny?
a friend has a spider, extremely good work, but...people keep slapping it! boy is she sorry !
and last but not least is the downgrading by employers, being "classified" as it were.
ie the long sleeve rules or for women the concealer etc. though maybe?? that is changing as so many employers have em too?!

I don't like tattoos.....
I think that people should get fake ones, that last for a year if poss.
