How can you hide yourself from others - be confined in solitary confinement when you are completely living on your own? This is when living becomes a rut that eats us. Free yourself from the daily grind of living. Work to live, not live to work. Seek the company of others and do not be immersed in your own world.
Be free with others. Find yourself through others. Because this is what freedom is all about.

I think that the quote is telling us to reach out to others when we are alone and by trying to understand the complicated emotions and fears of someone else, they are able to understand you and a connection is formed. I'm not sure, that's just how I see it.

i think it means that if you live by yourself..you won't really find out much about yourself. you should go out and interact with others. the best we learn about ourselves is by comminicating with others and using their feedback or opinions of us. it's called reflective appraisal: learning about urself through the comments of others. so if you go outside and understand others..you help them find their self...this interaction or new friendship is what life's about.

Don't see the world through only your eyes. don't be afraid to learn knew things, it can only help you. look to create relationships and express who you truly are, let others see the real you.
