I think that killing is killing, no matter what, I am not pro choice don't get me wrong, I think abortion should be limited to people who need it, like people who will die in childbirth or rape victims. What I don't understand is why someone can stand so firmly against abortion AND the death penalty. Death is death no matter who dies right?

Abortion is murder.
The death penalty is punishment.

Unborn babies are the most innocent of all humans.
People are given the death penalty for what they knowingly did, on purpose.

Unborn babies are killed for no reason except the mother wants to.

Btw, many people change their mind about the death penalty WHEN, it is someone they know that is murdered. No doubt at all about that one. Easy to stand back not knowing the victim or the murderer and say you are against the death penalty.
Not so easy when your sister, mother, father, cousin, etc, is the victim.

Also, btw, most states that have and use the death penalty, use it sparingly and only in gross cases.

Why do you see abortion as wrong?
Is it because you recognize that the child is an innocent life and has not proven to be harmful to society?
This is why pro-life supporters typically stand up for the unborn children.
We value the life of an innocent being.
Which is exactly why we believe that someone who has proven to be a danger to those around him should be put to death.
Not all murders deserve the death penalty; but for those who have shown that they can, have and will kill for their own purposes, we must protect ourselves and others by making sure they cannot kill again.
It is impossible to insure that they will not physically harm another person and it is unfair and unjust to put prison guards, as well as other not as violent prisoners in harm's way.
I do believe in the appeal system however, and I think the death penalty should be given only in extreme situations.
That's just my opinion however.

This isn't limited to fundies.

The difference, according to some beliefs, is the death penalty is in response to a crime having been committed with cognition and intent.

Abortion, in many cases, is out of convenience. The unborn child is collateral damage for another persons choice.

If the child was born and due to my choice of dropping a rock off my roof, even accidentally killing that child, I could rightfully be charged with manslaughter or at least criminal indifference. That person was collateral damage to my choice, but I'd still be guilty of a crime.

The pro-choice camp argues the "fetus" is not living therefore not worthy of lawful protection.

However, if a drunk driver kills a pregnant woman he/she is charged with double homicide. Inconsistent????

Very condensed version of both points.

A child is an innocent human being. If there are no serious consequences for serious crimes. There seems to be no serious crime any more. There are consequences for every action. In my opinion any immoral crime against a child should be the death penalty. Premeditated murder, and rape also.

The others have already explained that the fetus has committed no crime, and therefore deserves no punishment.

What puzzles me is how fundamentalists can justify killing in any form. (E.g., death penalty, war, self defense.) This violates a commandment, and I thought that fundamentalists interpret their bible literally.

A person that commits a capital crime is guilty. An unborn child is innocent.
Just FYI: Here are some scriptures.

Romans 13
Submission to the Authorities
1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. 6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. 7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Genesis 9:6 (New International Version)

6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed;
for in the image of God
has God made man.

They are anti-abortion so they can pretend to care about something.
They want to punish women. They hate feminists.
They are against euthanasia also because they like to see others suffer.
They are pro-death. Why else send their babies to war?
