I want to get my kids each an mp3 player (but I'm not sure they are ready for the responsibility of an iPod yet). Do you know of any other good quality and fair priced mp3 players? Thanks!

Jcpenney I got a one day special on the Friday after Thanksgiving for 39 Dollars

I have seen then on sale at best buys on that day, and last week for 35 dollars

I have seen cheap ones for 20 or less

I would not pay more than 40 dollar
The one I see on sale for 20, does not look like a iPod
The one I saw at best buys and Jcpenney look like an IPod

For the ten, I might spend more or even consider the iPod at Walmart for the ten year old. But I would not pay any more than that

My daugther is seven, she wants an iPod because the 10 year old has down the block has one

Best of luck

I had a Sony mp3, 1 GB (capacity for less than 500 songs, around 250), it's around 50-70 dls, and the great thing about it was that it didnt need batteries, it charged by connecting it to the computer, just like ipods do, mine resembled pretty much a USB Flash Drive.

I got my kids 5 and 9 the sandisk shaker for christmas. they come in pink or blue and are cheap compared to other mp3s. I paid 30.00 at circuit city but, I know they sell at places like kmart for 40.00. I read a lot of reviews and this seems to be the most kid friendly. Plus it has 2 jacks on it for head phones and an external speaker (in case the kids lose the head phones or forget them) and it has volume control but is pretty loud for such a small device. They hold about 120 songs. I hope my kids like them they are getting them for christmas.

for fair quality .... Im 14 and my parents got me a Sandisk Sansa 1GB (Gygabite) . It was $100 dollars , but they have really gone down to about $60 dollars ( take in mind this is Canadian dollars )

p.s. mines lasted great, sat on it, dropped it, and its still working as good as the day I bought it so its very durable and kid friendly ( cause you cant get any of those fisherprice Mp3's they dont make those)

they have one at walmart for 19.00 its about 3" long and 1/2" wide - it holds 20 - 40 songs depending on the format size of the song - perfect for a first mp3 player - very easy to use - the case os black but you can change screen colors it has a simple eaqualizer, voice recorder - i think very decent for someone their age -
