I know a lot of innocent people has recieved it. Cause dna testing etc have proved their innocence. I believe life in prison maybe better. Who really can decide if a person should die or not??? I also want to know the religious and non-believers perspective on this. Fyi I believe in God but I'm not in a religious sect.

no i do not believe in it b/c you have some people sitting on death row that are innocent but they just convict some people anyways b/c they can't find the person who really done the crime; therefore, we are killing innocent people who later on way after the fact are truly found to be innocent and not guilty, but by than it is way to late. People should leave matters into the Lord's hand as he said "Vengence is his so leave it for him to take care of" If not said in these words he said it and he that doesn't believe it read the bible.

And so...................you have no problem locking people up for the rest of their lives, but won't put murderers to death?

How is life in prison without parole any different then the death penalty?

Oh yeah, I forgot the taxpayers give them the very best health care available so they can live behind bars as long as possible. Very good thinking there. Not to mention the thousands of prison guard jobs that are created.

Btw, did you know that the US imprisons more people then any other country by percentage? 1 out of every 124 people are in jail right now. And yet the liberals in the US complain about other countries prison rates. Course, liberals have a little trouble seeing reality, don't they?

Yes!!!!!!!!!
So you would prefer to have someone living off our tax dollars and tying up our court systems for years with appeals. Instead of deciding that the Death Penalty should be used?
I.E.
Man walks into McDonald's and kills everyone there. Is arrested and then knows that he doesn't have to be a part of society anymore. Now he can stay on the prison welfare system and live his life getting passed around for a carton of smokes!
In cases such as that there is no second chance for the person committing that crime. However. I do agree that mistakes have been made and men have been put to death for another persons crime. That is a sad thing in society where ever you go.

I'm an atheist.

This is a gray topic for me. If someone murdered my mother I'm sure I would want to see them die but nobody has ever wronged me in that way so I don't have that emotional attachment with the issue.

I think that life in prison is the best option as of right now. Nobodies perfect, including FBI and police so there are mistakes made and I would hate to think that innocent people would be killed.

I believe that only God has the right to extract revenge.
Also in war as well as prison.
Mostly because I believe He can resurrect the dead, the hurt, the innocent back to life here on earth, after He has eliminated evil in the Battle of Armageddon and the world has been restored to a perfect state, just like IN the Beginning!
So with Him as our Creator, He has the right to be SOLE JUDGE and EXECUTOR if necessary!
Making death of another Human, for ANY reason....NONE OF MY BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!

I don't believe that there should be a death penalty. I am a Christian. I get upset with alot of Christians who don't believe in abortion but say that the death penalty is ok. Murder is murder. I believe it is left for God to judge us. We all fall short and are sinners. No person should be allowed to decide if some else should die.

If you were to consider the cost of keeping a criminal in prison for life, you would probably say hang em high, I believe in the death penalty, because no one has the right to invade the space of another human being, If you kill, kidnap, or rape then in my opinion you hang, it's that dam simple.

I do not support it. We have other options available for these criminals, such as life in prison. I don't think even real criminals deserve execution, but the fact that innocents have ended up on death row makes the practice particularly heinous. I'm Wiccan but I don't see my religion as particularly informing this particular opinion.

No. It is an insult to life itself.

Being Canadian, we've been without the death penalty since the early 70s. We are a far better nation for it.

Nope, I think it is a real cop out. I think that prisoners should be allowed to suicide though and should certainly not have any of the privelages that they currently do. TV, computers etc. they committed a crime and don't deserve what society has to offer.
