So I have a basement that is about 70% underground. About once or twice a year, it rains enough for water to get in. There is a sump pump, which pumps most of it out, and keeps the basement dry the rest of the time. But a little water gets in all around and it wicks into the carpet. It isn't bad, since it only wicks for about 3 feet all around the outside walls, and it only really happens about once or twice a year, but still, I don't like it. Also, the walls are framed about 6-8 inches from the foundation, so the walls stay dry and get good air movement.

But I was wondering about putting in another floor that will take the water better. I have already ruled out tile, since the floor is very uneven. And the ceiling is about 7', so I don't want to put leveling compound in, since this might raise the floor too much.

Is there a recommended flooring that would work well for this?

yes menards or home depot etc have a plywood type underlayment that snaps in to place. it has little 3/8" rubber feet on the bottom that keeps the new wood dry. then you can install any flooring over it. it will only raise the floor about 3/4"

Fix the leak would be the solution. Your drains on the outside are not working. This could be caused from roots growing in them or plugging up. You can have another drain installed which can be costly, or you can take the walls down to the cement blocks or bricks and use Dry Lock on them.

Before you put in any new flooring, you need to stop the entry of water with a waterproofer. Go to www.ugl.com/drylok...

pour cement in then put the stuff used to seal garage floors on it and then the cement will look prety.
