I am thinking about getting a digital slr camera for professional photography. Mainly for sel-portraits, animals and nature. What is the cheapest digital SLR i could get that would work really well? And if you know of any places that finance with bad credit, websites please. I am thinking of a canon rebel, but again I need some opinions. Thank you. Also, I'd say I am an amatuer who is wanting to go pro.

You can get the body for the Canon 30D for as little as $750. Granted you will have to buy then lenses and filters seperately, but thats going to happen regardless.

As far as bad credit and financing goes. I havent got any idea

Unfortunately, bad credit will require a co-signer who has really strong credit and is willing to pay for the merchandise if you don't. I doubt there are any websites that offer financing. Your best option is a co-signer for a personal loan from someplace like Wells Fargo or Citi Finance.

However, unless you have some strong credentials in photography, like a degree or several years of working for a professional photographer, you probably aren't ready to "go pro". There is much, much more to being a professional photographer than just having a DSLR.

IMO you also need to learn budgeting skills since its unlikely that your income from photography will be steady. The fact that you've tanked your credit indicates that your money management skills are suspect. A better plan, IMO, might be finding a regular job with a steady income and begin saving to buy your camera. Then you can try photography for hire on weekends and get established.

Firstly, I am a working professional photographer so you are getting an opinion about a system that works well for me. It is an opinion and should be taken as such as certainly there will be other opinions from other professionals.

I use the Canon DSLR system cameras in my business with great success. I use the Canon EOS5D body for my pictures and it does everything I need it to do but is a fairly expensive investment ($3000.00+ for the body not including lenses).

I have owned and used Canon Digital Rebel cameras and they have provided quite successful results for a relatively modest investment There is a good line of accessories available for this series and most of these accessories are also compatible with the full frame image sensor Canon DSLR cameras you will eventually graduate into if you really do go professional. You can start with a Canon Digital Rebel XT which can be had for about $550.00 with the Canon 18 - 55mm lens (this is a good lens to start with which is designed to shoot slight wide angle to slight telephoto views in excellent quality) and should cover most situations as you are starting out. If one of your interests is in self portrates, you will also need a tripod.

Good luck in pursuing your professional career. It is not an easy career to start, but if you have some talent and hang in there, it is a great profession and can earn you some good income. I have been doing it for over 40 years with no regrets and no Salvation Army meals.

As to financing with not good credit, give the Best Buy credit card a try (not the BestBuy Master Card, just the regullar BestBuy store credit card). They are pretty leiniant with credit approval and offer some pretty good terms like no payments for 90 days etc.
