You didn't say but I assume you need to have your eyes checked to see if you need a new prescription. If you do need to go to the eye doctor, just tell your parents that rather give you a gift you really may not need, a practical idea for a gift for Xmas would be new glasses. That way your vision is improved, you get new frames, and your parents won't have to go to the expense of buying new glasses for you in the near future. It is a win win for the family.

Um... you can do something risky and arrange for your current glasses to be broken. But they might get mad at you for that, and refuse to get your new ones to teach you responsibility. Unless you can arrange someone else to break them.
If that's all you want for Christmas, it might be easy if you only request new glasses.
They're probably wanting you to wait for insurance purposes (I get free lenses every year, and $150 towards new frames every two years). If that's the case, I'd say take their finances into account (teehee, pun) and wait until insurance will cover them again.

I would have to say butter them up, give them compliments, be really "good" for a few days, and then ask them politely. Then it doesn't seem like your demanding but merely making a suggestion for a present.
This always works on my parents!

Unless you need special glasses-have you tried the $1.00 stores?
The have them from 1+ to 3.5+ for $1.00 per pair.
Drug stores carry them also in the $8.00 to $14.95 range.

if you're "demandnig" (sic) them, then I fail to see how they are really a gift.
the irs demands taxes from me. i don't consider my payments as gifts.
