Good question! You're probably wondering if Mitt Romney follows Warren Jeffs: Not that I know of or hope of.
When the church was being led by Joseph Smith Jr. we were all one church/people. After Joseph's murder, people began forming their own ideas on how the church should be run. That's why there are divisions.

A couple of different ones claim to be from the original, the division after the death of Joseph Smith who would be the prophet. The Reformed group kept the Smith Family as leaders and broke off while they were still in Illinois or Nebraska, one of the two. But the largest is the one that kept the orginal name the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There has been some reunification with the orignial two that broke apart, but not the more radical ones that left after arriving in Utah.

So the ones commonly referred to as Mormons are the ones called LDS headquartered in SLC.

The real Mormons are not polygamist a long time ago a when they out lawed polygamy a group of Mormon's decided they didn't want to stop being polygamists so they started their new sector......the real Mormons are just regular christians, with beliefs and morals, some of them are good, some extreme, but then again all religions have their weird attributes, don't they?

There is only one faith (a.k.a. the "Mormons") and it's correct name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints". There were some factions that didn't want Brigham Young to be the Prophet of the Church, and started their own church, but they were either excommunicated or apostatized from the church. Anakin is correct. There are some that splinter off, but they are not recognized by the official church. They aren't denominations, the are considered by us to be seperate churches.
