What are some good community service events for people in college? I need to do about 20 for the next 6 month

Don't forget local organizations that need help. Teach an adult to read or let young children read to you to improve their reading level, also tutoring the disadvantaged or handicapped kids. There is probably an organization that works with the handicapped who could use some help. Someone to swim with them, go bowling, read to them or even help them the ride horses! (Watch your toes!)
Local libraries often take volunteers. They need help with books and cleaning, but also may consider letting you do a program, for instance, arts and crafts, doing a puppet show or reading to the preschoolers. Schools sometimes need help, too, maybe with a new teacher or in the Learning Disabled class. Don't be surprised if some organizations, especially libraries and schools, need to do a background check. Churches often have lots of programs going, maybe Christmas dinners, toy drives, getting supplies to the homeless and home bound, etc. Nursing homes may let you visit, put on a program or bring an animal for the residents to pet. (I used to take a dog to the nursing homes, and a kitten once. It's very rewarding! Their eyes light up and it just makes their day!)
Keep your heart and mind open and you will learn a lot. Everyone has something they can teach you if you let them.

Habitat for Humanity is lots of fun and a wonderful program! As a young person, there will most likely be others your age.. not to mention, its a great way to learn some new skills and possibly stretch some muscles. :)
