Please don't kill me.....
Is it possible that your arguments against God are just as weak as the arguments for him?
I mean, given all the tangible evidence we have, you pretty much have to choose a side based on instinct. You can't prove or disprove him/her, so is it fair to say that just about every argument can be easily turned the other way?
Like I said please don't kill me. I ask this because I have done a lot of looking into the matter, and supposedly I have read all I need to know about the myth in a shiny silver package (*snicker*), but I am still not convinced. And i am one of the most rational people you could ever meet.

Anakin, that's my point. If there is no such thing, why such a focus? And if you can't prove there shouldn't be a focus...and so on and so forth. I'm confusing myself, lol.
I think too much.....

Tangible: What you CAN prove, what you can put your finger on and touch.
So, Brandon, my boss was that a yes? For this is a yes or no question.

lol. Nah, this isn't about whether there is God, it's about whether you can call any argument stupid or ignorant when yours are equally as weak as mine, or as strong.

Therein lies the rub... Huhuhuhuhuhuh!
And I think you might wanna define 'tangible', for the anti-smart folks.
-- I think saying there's "tangible evidence" is quite subjective. Hmmm, no, most of the arguments for are usually based in either philisophy or emotion, not logic or common sense. Good question! You get the ol' double thumbs up from over heeyuh!

I don't know if I'm technically one of your atheist friends, but I'm an atheist, and I like you based on your Q&A's here, so I'll go ahead and answer.
I think atheists have the better arguments, but then I am an atheist. The problem is not so much arguments and evidence as it is what each side is looking for as "proof." Given that believers require only faith and emotion to justify their beliefs, it doesn't matter to them that there is no evidence for God. To an atheist, physical evidence and/ or logical arguments are the most important things. There are religious people who believe they have convincing evidence and arguments for the existence of God, but (no disrespect intended) I would say their standards are much lower than mine.

My strong opinion is god does not exist and why should I believe words in a book written at a time when people didn't even know a quarter of what is known now. My feelings are telling me that if I follow I will be in for a major disappointment and would be robbing myself of an opportunity to be free, free thinking and enjoying true free will, wasting time being a slave to an imaginary beings twisted world. Logic will tell you nothing is every perfect and without flaws, god proves to be made up because no one is willing to accept that god is a flawed theory that can't even help his own self.
PS
I won't bother harming you and neither would a lot of people you have a right to your own way, just respect so do I.

Religion wouldn't be religion if it could CONCRETELY be proven or disproven. While things such as evolution can be 'proven', or at least well scientifically supported, the pure and simple idea of a divine being cannot EVER be proven or disproven. Thus, no, neither side is able to argue with concrete evidence the EXISTENCE OF A DIVINE BEING. All else--i.e. manner of creation, etc. -- CAN be argued with concrete evidence. The simple existence of 'God', however, cannot.
Btw, I'm an atheist.

Perhaps. We cannot disprove God....that much is true. but i still point out to all of the civilizations before us that had God's they believed in just as fervently as we believe in ours. what are the odds ours is correct and all before us were simple and deluded?
what are the odds this is the last god we will concoct? if there is a god, i would hope he is more complex than mankind can imagine. because of that, i refuse to 'randomly' chose a religion or a denomination. i chose to be an atheist until god decides to show me a sign. believe me, the second god shows me he is real and lets me know what he wants of me.....well, that is exactly what i will do.
we would never hate you. you are far too kind. the only people i dislike (not hate) are the copy and paste Christians or the ones that just keep telling me how hot Lake Hell will be.

Nothing anyone can say will make ANYONE convert one way or the other. I know this from personal experience.
And it's only personal experience and perception that can really "prove" to anyone anything.
I believe in God and that Christ is my savior due to something personal that happened to me. Nothing I can say would ever really change an atheists mind anyway.
Sometimes, I don't know why we argue....
EDIT: What I meant to finish with, but missed, was that from both sides of the fence, each opposing argument will seem weak.

Sure it's possible.
However, based on my understanding of the world and the arguments both for and against the existence of God, I believe that the most likely scenario is a universe in which God doesn't exist. I could be completely wrong though.
EDIT:
And no, I won't disown you.

I disagree. It is delusional to say that because we cannot technically disprove God, that it is equally likely that it is true or not. That is the point of the FSM, celestial teapot and the pink unicorn. It makes the point that just because you can't disprove something (yet), doesn't make it probable.
We wont shun you for having your doubts. That's the great thing about atheism.

Hi, ahh... okay say I won the lottery... no problem... I was fortunate... okay say I won the lottery twice in a row... very fortunate... suspicious don't you think... okay say I won the lottery three times in a row... very very very fortunate... highly suspect don't you think... okay say I keep winning the lottery twenty times in a row... EXTREMELY FORTUNATE I AM... you know something is up you definitely believe I am cheating... PROVE IT... it is extremely improbable, and I mean super extremely improbable... most likely I am cheating but there is no proof...
Okay, how did I come to be? Hmmm... Well the universe can into existence... chance or cause... undecided... but still all the right raw materials come into existence to enable first generation stars too come into existence... mostly hydrogen and helium exists now, but no heavy materials... okay a bunch of these form into galaxies and go super nova, producing heavier materials, oxygen, carbon, etc... It's been about 5 billion years from the beginning... no possibility of life yet no enough building materials for planets... another 5 billion passes by and finally enough building material to make the right star with the right habitation zone, with a planet with correct size moon, with enough water on the surface of the planet, with the correct planetary tilt, with an iron core planet, plate tectonics... Okay, okay I'll get to my point... there are a number of factor that are required for life to exist... these factors are both time and space there are about Fifteen or so of these factors... anyway each one of these is like winning the lottery, especially all of them, which earth is happy to have won... Then, well, we get into the controversial theory (hypothesis) of evolution right... which has to contend with a number of difficult factors itself... spontaneous generation, single-cell to multi-cell, invertabrate to vertabrate, asexual reproduction to sexual reproduction... okay, okay I'll leave it at that and get to the point... each one of these is like winning hundreds of lotteries... each one was ahhh... well one perfect accident after another perfect accident over and over again... Well I cannot prove anything but is it not strange that earth and all of it's life on earth keeps winning the lottery, especially given the short time factor (cosmically), isn't it interesting that as soon as it was possible for life to exist suddenly life existed especially agaist the odds... interesting coincidence... I cannot prove anything at all... Just like no one could prove I cheated and won 20 lotteries in a row... lol...
btw, I left out the impossibilities on purpose but no body pays attention to those any way... All we have is a large series of extremely improbable events one after another according to the theory (hypothesis) of evolution... It is also interesting that as each event occurs you have to multiply the probabilities together which makes the "chances" even smaller... I hope this helps you a bit... there is alot more to know... but its a start... Journey Well...

Ever hear of, "Doubtful Thomas?" He saw evidence with his own eyes and still had doublt. Even when lazaras was raised from the dead. The people saw with their very own eyes and still doubted. Even if some people saw a miricle, they would say, "Show me a sign" and still not believe.
