Because along with their "authority" these community college graduates also have a greater responsability to obey the law. Shouldn't those who are so quick to oppress be held to a higher standard, shouldn't they have some absolute understanding of the law?

I just LOVE how these cops posting feel they should not be held to a higher standard.
I wonder, though, what standards they think a CRIMINAL should be held to when he kills a cop.
Hmmm.
Anybody care to take a guess?

No. We all have the same responsibility to follow the law: that of citizen (or guest of the nation, legal or otherwise).

I disagree with your characterization of officers as "quick to oppress." Most of them aren't looking for drama, they just want to get home safely at the end of a shift. Even lawyers don't have "some absolute understanding of the law." Come on now.

I'm not in the profession, but I have to sympathize with them: would you want tense moments in your workplace posted on YouTube for the untrained world to pass judgment on? I certainly wouldn't.

No one has an absolute understanding of the law.

Police officers are people like everyone else, and have only the SAME duty to obey the law as everyone else.

Dirty cops make us all look bad, and they need to be fired and go to prison where appropriate.

Nice unbiased question though. At least you aren't pushing an agenda here...

Picking out a single group of people and treating them differently is discrimination in this country.

As far as an absolute understanding of the law, even the US Supreme court does not have that, or there would never be a dissenting opinion.

I think your request is a bit unreasonable. The sentence should be consistent with the crime, not with the person's profession.

No, they should be treated like every other citizen who breaks the law. Besides, dont criminals "opress" people when they commit crimes?
Should your elitist attitude be held to a different standard?
