When you are ready. My husband and I got engaged after about 6 months but it really depends on how strong your relationship is and how open the communication is.

It really depends on the couple. Definitely be sure it's not just infatuation... Too many people get married in a hurry and end up wishing they would have explored more first! Then again, I know several couples who knew immediately and have been happily married for years.

I'm one of those people who advocates living with a person for at least 1 year before getting married - make sure you can work together on finances, cleaning, sharing, etc. Also wait till you're out of college and have steady finances.

In my opinion, you gotta be dating and/ or living together for 2 years before you consider marriage.

Depends on the couple. Me and my boyfrined talk about it after 4 years, but when I had a break from my boyfriend and started dating a guy talked about marriage after 1 month.

If you are thinking about "when is the right time to talk marriage" then its probably the right time now. Feelings between a couple should be open in a relationship... so If you are thinking about it, maybe she/he is too...?

I would say 5 to 6 months of normal dating. But if you see each other all of the time probably 3-4 months.

Remember the engagement may be 6months also unless you go to vegas

when your both ready and not a second sooner. If both partners aren't ready it becomes a huge issue and you'll end up regretting it, I agree with the other posters that for some it's very quickly others its very long i would say that if after two years though you don't know that you want to be with this person then its a waste of time.

well, i don't think that you should really even be in a relationship unless you're considering getting married. i mean, yeah, it's okay to date, but before you DO go out with a guy, think ahead 5 years and think "hmm...can i see myself married to this guy in 5 years???" if not, why bother???? what is the point if you know that it's not going to go anywher? i say, let the guy choose when to bring the topic up. then, you can tell him your hopes and dreams for the future, and see where it goes from there.

It depends on the relationship and the people. Some people get married right away and some people wait for ever and live with each other and have kids then get married. To each his own

I think that 1 year is about right. Depends on the couple though. I see nothing wrong with talking about it sooner if that's what both people want.
