Jews? Seriously, a little respect here. Not only the JEWISH COMMUNITY should be concerned, but every parent of every child, every son or daughter, every brother or sister should be very aware of what's being pumped into their respective heads.

Not only Jews but every one else on this planet! Practically all of the news is negative and they twist and turn it to make it sound worse. They make sure all of the kids know every time some substance is found that will give them a high. Example, outside of Everett Wash.,it was reported by the local paper that some kids had been arrested for picking mushrooms that had mind altering effects in a large field by the river bridge. The next day there were two or three hundred kids out there looking for the mushrooms!! Enough said!

YES!!! But who said the Jews are the only ones concerned. This is an issue a lot of concerned people are not happy about & with good reason.
The media can be a good thing. However when it becomes overly intrusive & offensive then that can be an awful sample to our kids & extremely disruptive to the lives of those being targeted.
The media instill values into our lives & our children's lives that if we stop to think about it we really wouldn't want to have.
Then of course there are the violent movies or TV programs that negatively influence our kids & drive a wedge between us & them as they wanna see them & rebel against our censorship or do watch 'em & we have the bad behaviour to deal with as a result.
The media are largely unregulated & put their spin on things according to how they want us to think.
Is that bad for family life? It's devastating. I wanna bring my kids up to hold dear positive & contructive values. For the most part the media tears those values down.
That's not to say all TV or media is bad. An awful lot of good things can be learned, but there is an awful lot of bad & it's increasing & with each generation the barriers of decency are being pushed back a little more.
The sad thing is our kids don't have the discernment to know the difference & a lotta parents don't have the will to teach them. They are too busy watching TV.

Yes, all children and families are being affected by the media whether in a direct or more indirect way. While parents have a responsibility to control their children, they are still very much exposed to more in the school environment, play environment, entertainment and news media as well as many other places they connect to that have other people present in leadership roles. It is a form of intimidation and control sourcing back to money and power. Most of the time, what the media starts out with to present to the public is never actually presented, but omitted, watered-down, exaggerated.

I think it is clear that media can have a significant impact on family life, and recent years, I would venture to say that impact is mostly for the negative. While it is true that ultimate responsibility for children lies with the parents, we are all responsible for children. Parents have quite a few concerns as it stands, it wouldn't be too terrible if media reflected many more positive families / and correct interpersonal interaction. I never have heard that Jewish people felt so strongly about the issue, but they are correct in encouraging good media, and discouraging less than good media.

I am concerned about how the media affects my children, but not because I am Jewish. It has nothing to do with that at all. I also know that because the media concerns me, I will have to be careful what I allow my children to be exposed to.

To the girl who said we prefer to be called Jewish people by non-Jews. I actually don't care if they call me a Jew. That's like a black person saying "Hey, don't call me a ni**er unless you're black too." It's ridiculous.

No. Does media effect family life- yes. But the effects can be coutered and aren't by definition "bad." So it really isn't a concern unless jewish parents are worried about controlling their own family life.

I'm not Jewish, I am Catholic and I am. There are things we don't need to see. We already know. I don't need details, I have an imagination. Some Media is too graphic, and detailed. I don't need to know all the In's and outs that is for the family and their relatives.

sorry I am not Jewish. : )
