We had a destination wedding and had a reception at home last March.
We used the same colors that we had used for the wedding, Black and Ivory with hints of pink. The bridesmaids still wore their dresses and the groomsmen wore their tuxes since they'd purchased them for the trip anyway.
How long ago were you married? Our reception was less than 3 weeks from our wedding day, so we made it as wedding like as possible and our guests really appreciated that as they felt included.
We wore our wedding dress/tux, we had a wedding cake and cut it ceremoneously, we did a bride and groom dance, and bride and father dance, we had live entertainment, dancing, toasts, etc.
Something else we did that many of our guests commented on was that we processed into the reception kinda like we would at a wedding, but i came in with my husband instead of my dad, and then our preacher from home said a few words and did a little dedication of the marriage. It wasn't a renewal of vows or anything, but he just read some scripture and talked about marriage and then prayed. The whole thing was no more than 10 minutes, probably closer to 5 minutes... but it made the guests feel like they were more a part of the ceremony.

Since you are already married, it is a party to celebrate the marriage of X and X (not a reception). As far as theme, and colors it is all up to you. Do you want a theme? If so what are your favorite colors, music, movies? You can choose one main thing and build from there.
Or you can just choose colors, flowers and keep it simple with coordinating ribbon and decorations.
If you're looking for more info, maybe give us a little more details, or ask a more specific question.

The reception is for the brand new bride and groom AND for the visitors. A few love songs is satisfactory however too many is dull. Not your whole visitors are in a courting and do not wish to listen to romance track all night time. Play a few amusing stuff, well beats, oldies, something that's pleasant to bounce to, will get 'em relocating of their seats and makes them revel in themselves. Just feel kind and revel in! Congratulations!

Hi and congratulations on your recent marriage.
~ What colors do YOU like?
~ Do you WANT a theme?
Personally, I don't like themes...they are for the prom and kid's birthday parties.
I would stick with colors and go from there. Invitations, flowers, centerpieces, linens, etc. you can all coordinate with your "colors."
Good luck and have fun!
