My rule of thumb is always get it somewhere that can be covered by clothing for work. No matter if you role your clothing up or not.
I am assuming you are man. I would recommend the calf then. It would be easily hideable unless you wear shorts to work and I have never seen a dentist in shorts!

Tattoos are nice, but hide it. If you're going to be a dentist, no one will hire you with a visible tattoo. It may be difficult for patients to take you seriously as a dentist, ya know? If you don't want it on your upper body, I'd say lower back, calf, ankle or hip. But that depends on what you want...because some of those places are kind of girly. Most men get them on their upper arm or in between shoulder blades.

Tattoos are becoming more accepted in the workplace every day.

I have 27 tattoos and I have always worked in a professional environment. If you are worried about it showing, then put it on your upper arm, upper back, shoulder or calf.

By the way, my dentist has a tattooed arm sleeve. My general doctor has a tattoo on her lower back, ankle and wrist.

Despite what people think tattoos are NOT unprofessional or trashy.

my sincere opinion would be to get it somewhere on your back because getting it on your wrist or anywhere that it is seen when you roll up your sleeves to me is unprofessional but a lot of people (like me) would really ask you about the tattoo so i would get it done for the hell of it and i woud also find another location just for professionality reasons

Good for you ! The best place is your ankle. You can wear it proudly in college and pants will cover it nicely when you have to play the role as an upcoming star in the dental world.
