I have seen a lot of this sort of thing in this section. People post honest questions and concerns on here and in return people post rude, unnecessary, unhelpful, and smug answers. What's the point in that? How can you help someone with their dog if all you do is criticize them and talk bad to them? I feel that if a person is THAT passionate about dogs then they should be openly willing to help anyone who needs help caring for their animals. If you are THAT concerned about the overpopulation of dogs then you should be willing to spread awareness of the issue without being vile and offensive. In no way is it ok to talk crazy to someone on here if you don't even know them or their situation and it is definitely not ok to make assumptions about how they treat their animals if have never met, seen, or visited the person. If you care so much about animals then help them by teaching people the do's and don't's of dog ownership.

Sufi- I am not criticizing anyone. I am posing the question as to why people are so offensive if they care so much about dogs. I never once said in any of my details anything negative about them as people or anything negative about their dog raising techniques. I am simply stating both what I have seen on here and what I have experienced. I thinks it's ok to question the rudness of others because it is unclear to me why people on here are so rude and unhelpful to those in need but I don't think it's ok to be rude for no reason. I will forgive them when they start making an actual difference and start handling things in a more positive way. I will never condone ignorance or being mean. Maybe you do but I don't.

Rescue Member- How didI refute my own objection? You are an example of what I am talking about. I'm not saying that one should be sumpathetic towards those that abuse their animals. I am saying that people on here are rude to people who ask sincere and honest questions. People like you assume that they are mistreating their animal when they are really not. They are just looking for some help or insight on providing the best environment for their pet. If all you do is criticize someone for what they are doing wrong then you are damn right that they are not going to listen to you. I wouldn't listen to someone rant and rave about a situation that theyt know the half of. Just answer the questions and stop assuming crap. Help them help their dogs. By being rude, you are doing nothing more than just p!ssing them off even more and making them not want to listen to you or anyone else. Last time I checked, asking for help was not against the law.

I see that this is a lost cause. I will never ask another question in this section for as long as I live. Some people on here have no compassion for others who are honestly trying to do the right thing. Ignorance is the reason why dogs and other animals are mistreated. Some owners are ignorant in certain situations and resort to asking for help but it is the ignorance of the person that is able to help that keeps the owner from learning how to better care for their animal. You all's willingness to criticize and judge is not helping those animals that are in need of major help. People need and want insight and are denied by those that are ignorant to their situation. I don't think that asking a question on Y!A is a sign of a bad caretaker. I think that not asking at all and turning a blind eye to a needy dog or any other animal is a sign of a bad caretaker. Learn how to help instead of judge. That is what is going to help save animals. Assuming hasn't helped animals thusfar.

You are asking the same question I have asked myself in the past over and over again, and I try so hard to help people with a question, the fact that all of those nasty post of these people are due to lack of reading the entire question then they gotta act like they are God.
Those are the ones that need to be over looked when either you go to answer that question, it shows the level of ignorance on their part as they rant and attempt to alert people of the pros and cons.
IGNORE THEM, because one thing is true you can not argue with stupidity NOR win no matter how hard you try.
I also see this forum is posted on the Yahoo home page a lot with an interesting resolved question and answers, as do millions of other viewers and those ranters make themselves look very stupid when it gets to that point, and on the level of MORON.
I was taught that NO QUESTION as weird as it sounds is not DUMB, what is DUMB is an UNASKED QUESTION.
Some people have trouble with learning and they need to be told in a way that they can understand so yeah, the questions get weird if not funny.
Example the Girl that posted about her dog getting hit and what to do was maybe a disabled and wheel chair bond peron or a child, I am betting a 13 or 14 year old child clearly stated MY MOM IS NOT HERE SHE IS AT WORK,
Those STUPID ANSWERS WERE, WHY are you on the computer take the dog to the vets.
HOW when a "CHILD" legally can not sign documents, for anything including treatment or even OPERATE a motor vehicle.
Example two- My dog is having Pups help.
STUPID ANSWER you should of spayed her or you should have known and learned.
ONE FACT IS NO ONE CAN CHANGE THE TIME OR GO BACK TO THE BEGINNING AND IF A PUP IS LOST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS NOW AFRAID TO ASK DUE TO THE NON LECTURING BUT RANTING OLD BATS ON HERE ABOUT PET POPULATION, WELL GUESS WHAT, THOSE SAME SO CALLED DO GOODERS ARE NOW MURDERS. THEY ALSO REFUSED TO OFFER HELP ON A QUESTION, THAT FALLS UNDER NEGLECT. THE RANTING IS ALSO LASHING AT SOMEONE, THAT IN MY EYES IS ABUSE, THEY IN THEIR OWN SELFISHNESS THOUGHTS WHILE A LIFE IS COMING INTO THE WORLD ARE LOOKING EVERY BIT THE MORONS THEY ARE CALLING THE ASKER.
Dencur do not stop asking and do not allow them to win because something you may ask can help someone else that is afraid to or doesn't know how to ask and just ignore those that are a waste of your time, don't even argue with them, its not worth it.
Trust me the time you take up doing that, that time could be placed on something else you need to know.

You are right this is a place to help others and a lot of us do try to help with out putting any one down but it is a two way street on here sometimes a lot of the dog lovers cant understand why people say there dog is so sick but cant afford to take it to the vet if you your self or a family member was this sick you would find the money somehow the same is true with your pet when you got it you took on the job as the owner it is your place to give it the care it needs NO MATTER THE COST and yes some do put others down for letting unfixed pets run lose to mate but most see first hand how many unwanted pets die each day just because a owner didn't take the time to get there pet fixed most time if you get them fixed around 4 months it cost less then $65.00 if they cant give birth to the pups you pay $1,200 for a c-section or let the Mom die in labor it is not fair to these pets to have to be sick and die they didn't ask these people take me home with you I will be your best friend then when I need vet care you can let me die come on people in every state now we have yard sales, flea markets sell something at a pawn shop but do the right thing when it comes to your pet

This is a really good question. I myself have been a "victim" of some of these "kind" souls. I get thumbs down ALL the time. Come to find out, These people think I'm in cahoots with unsavory dog owners. How can you be in with anyone when you have just joined YA? I came to YA to learn about dogs and apparently it was a mistake. I'm not leaving though. Why should I let people that believe that they are better dog owners than myself because they breed show dogs? I really thought that I could learn something from them but what did I get ? A bashing!!! I am in NO WAY, SHAPE,OR FORM A BREEDER!!! Nor do I want to be. My true passion is rescuing dogs. I'd like to find out more about dogs for that simple fact. I won't judge you so don't judge me. Although I do agree that there are some really dumb questions posted. My favorite is: "Why kind of dog should I get?" I really hope that you don't leave because I think it's time for those of us who find this appalling to stand up and say ENOUGH! Kindness goes along way. And people shouldn't think that everyone that joins is either a backyard breeder or a puppy mill owner. Again, nice question!

This type of question gets posted every day and still they don't get it. I personally would never take the advice of an angry person. I will however easily take the advice of a well balanced human.
Edit : Animal Artist I understand where you are coming from but there is noooo excuse for name calling (your dumb, your an idiot, you shouldn't have a dog you this and you that) that is just plain immaturity. Not saying that you do it but have a look around. Yes I did fall into the trap of doing it back and I feel ashamed and so should anyone who does it.

I understant what you are saying. I try not to criticize, I answer if they had the same questions as me when i gotten my first puppy. If i dont know i will not answer. but you have to say some the questions are just common sence. Just like the question that i posted the other day about people not even answering the question they just say oh your dogs a mutt.. what does that have to do with the question.. Some just come on here to be rude i think..

At a minimum I attempt to answer the question. I always hope the reader realizes its my opinion and formed from years of dog ownership, breeding and training as a behavioral training consultant.
What I can tell you is that as a trainer/educator I've learned that not everyone learns the same way. Some people really do learn best from blunt cold hard facts and critique... others learn best from very verbiose rhetoric. How people express themselves differs culturally, economically and in different situations. I'm not saying its right, but you cannot mandate how someone views the world, nor can you mandate how they express their opinions.
Frankly, I think the diversity of the people who frequent the forum adds to the depth of the answers. If we all answered the same way or style, what would be the point of anyone but whoever posts first bothering to answer?
In my opinion its best respect everyone's right to have an opinion and express it in the manner that suits them best. While I may not agree with the opinion, I certainly can learn other viewpoints through my exposure to them and may even decide to adjust my thinking. As an adult I am capable of disagreeing with someone while still respecting them as a person and as someone with a right to their opinion.

I TOTALY TOTALY AGREE!!!!!!!!!
I asked a question on here a few days ago concerning my dog having puppy's and OMG people went CRAZY at me saying bla bla bla plenty of dogs are in shelters and your breeding more!!!!!! like I was the worst person to walk the earth!!! I couldnt believe how rude people were to me so i posted another question saying "Dont you just love designer dogs" haha and in less than 5 minutes somebody had reported it!!! I know what you mean though whenever I am in the DOG section people are going crazy at other people over normal questions. whats the point in a dog section if you cant even ask a question regarding a dog!!!!!
they all started calling me a troll the IDIOTS
And: yeah they dont even answer the questions, they just assume you are doing something wrong.
If somebody asks a question, wouldnt it kind of make them a GOOD owner for actually caring? a bad owner wouldnt even bother to ask how to help their dog they would just let it be!!!!!

i agree with you ..i have read some of the rudest comments on here by some not all and it has nothing to do with the question...they start ranting and raving about nothing that has to do with the ????if you dont want to answer dont simple as that and if one wants to tell someone to neuter or spay maybe do it a lil nicer or at least answer the ??? first
good luck
maybe help the person with advice before they get to the vet MAYBE YOU COULD SAVE A DOG BY DOING THIS EVER THINK OF THAT not just go to the vet
but there are times like i for one might ask a ??? before it happens just so maybe if it ever does happen i can be prepared its like saying the people who answer with take dog to vet dont trust their own judgement and just say go to vet..like my dog got run over what should i do i know i should go to vet but in the minutes before i get to the vet how maybe do i make my dog more comfy or how to stop bleeding maybe the most effective way you know something like that people look up to the answerers on here until they keep ranting dont you guys want people who dont know as much as you to look to you for help like a mentor so to speak i think its awesome to have someone on here and i have a few to look to if i have an emergency
sorry for venting just how i feel
some really good answers here cant we all just get along and help save someones dog that is in pain or suffering AND DENCUR02 DONT LET THEM GET TO YA we can all get on here and ask or answer we have earned our points

I agree with Stephanie Loves Sam. Don't you think sometimes those "rude" answers are honest answers? When there's emergency, the best thing is to take your poor dog to see the vet, not to cry on the internet because people can't dianose a dog on the internet. Regarding breeding questions, these people have no clue what they are doing or they don't have mentor by their side. If they are serious about breeding, they should study the breed standards (doesn't include mixed breeds) and obtain a better quality breeding stock from good, responsible breeders. If these people are so passionate about dogs, they should think about those dogs at the shelters without homes and provide good and loving homes to these dogs instead of breeding more mutts or pet quality purebreds.
ADD: Geez, what are you guys giving thumbs down for? It's only opinion. Doesn't everybody deserve his/her own opinion?
