It means that if you are near your family, you are somewhere between unhappy and happy.
Now... move yourself away, and now you are happier.
See how that works? Simple answer to your question.
It also means you are very young and need to learn the value of your family because you will need them in the future and might regret comments like this when that time comes.

Maybe they are too stressful or demanding for you to really relax around them? Do you feel like you don't fit in with them? I am much happier away from my family. I moved out when I was 17 and have been on my own ever since. I really enjoy visiting, but their lifestyle is too hectic and stressful for me to be there everyday. So it could just not be a great fit. You can love them and still have a hard time being around them.

It means that you can most likely just be you and not feel like you are under a microscope, or being judged. Sometimes we feel uncomfortable around our family and can't be ourselves. When we live in those circumstances, being away relieves us of the stress we endure when with them. It's not unnatural or wrong. In your case it is what it is. Don't worry about it, it's not bad. It just is.

it might mean you allow them to stress you out... maybe you have a difficult home life? perhaps you could ask your parents or family if you could all work on change? let them know how you feel...
sometimes when parents or others are stressed out, it affects everyone else, too..
you will have to think about this and come to a good conclusion. if you need help, why not talk with your school counselor?
take care.
