You can get an old version (like 6.0) for very cheap on ebay and it does almost everything cs3 does. Alternatively use paint shop pro...nearly as good and a fraction of the price.

I switched to Linux about 2 years ago and I use free software that is comparable. GIMP can work with Photoshop files and Xara LX is my vector-based program. GIMP and Xara are free, as in "free beer". And, after using Xara, I will NEVER go back to CoralDraw nor Illustrator ever again.

The thing is, free software takes some tweaking to run the software on your home pc.

So, you will have to consider how bad you want to learn computer graphics. Do you want to steal the software? Are you willing to buy the student verisions? Or, are you willing to learn free software?

eBay has some bargains, but I think what you want is OEM versions of the software. Most of them are shipped from Eastern Europe, so they can be a bit sketchy. I googled it and came up with these links:

http://www.zoomerart.net/index.php?target=desc&progid=10137

http://www.oemsoftsales.net/info-Adobe_Illustrator_CS3.html?session=%5C

http://www.zoom-zoom.info/index.php?target=desc&progid=10137

I am NOT endorsing these sites - in fact, I said they can be sketchy. I just wanted to point out OEM versions are out there cheap.

If you are a student and have an ID, then you can get a student version cheaper.

My University allowed students to get a really cheap license for Photoshop. I would check with someone at the school about it.

I notice you didn't express a desire for it to be a legal copy... interesting.

Try coming to the United States and buying it here... the US dollar is so devalued, it'll seem cheap.

A free alternative is the GIMP
