All the apocalyptic questions made me think of this. We were discussing at work where people would go if civilization fell. I don't mean the Rapture, I mean some man-made or natural disaster that made the power grid go down, etc. so that technology was useless. How would you survive? Where would you go? This isn't a baiting question, I just want to know, does anyone else think of this?

I think it's only fair for me to answer, too. We'd go back to our farm where there's plenty of firewood, springs of water, animals, an orchard. But I know most people don't have that.

I know it really doesn't belong in R&S, but I care more about what the people in this section think. I cheated a little.

I would go to wherever I could do the most good. My life is not my own.

For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Co 6:20).

I have thought of this. I live in a kind of small town, and there is an author here who wrote a really good novel about this. It is called "Into the Forest" Anyway, the book inspired this idea. There are a lot of fruit trees around here, oranges, avacados, walnuts, pomegranates, berries, etc. I always thought it would be a good idea to have a city map with all these available food sources on it, just in case you need to forage for your dinner!

I would go to the Northwest Mountains of Maine and farm (I have family up there). As remote as it is up there it is already hours from any kind of civilization and you have to rely on yourself and your neighbors a lot even now. I learned as a child how to cook on a wood stove and I could handle not having any electricity. As a reader I certainly wouldn't miss television much as I don't watch it really anyways.

I live in California, traffic capital of the world. If anything happens here, nobody is going anywhere. When the power goes out here, you lock your doors and break out your arsenal. I could walk to the beach and eat Muscles or something, but driving would be impossible.

I would head for the woods... maybe Maine or Quebec, since their is still a lot of wildlife there. I think survival chances would be better there than in a city filling up with diseases and crime. Plus, I lived there before, so I'm handy with canoes, blueberry picking, and knitting my own socks. :-)

Yes. In the hills of West Virginia. And I definitely could survive.

that's a good question. I wonder why it's under religion and spirituality?

I don't know what I'd do. I'd probably get in my car and drive to my aunt's house. she has a farm. what to do if I don't have enough gas, I don't know.

I live in a city with a really high crime rate, so, I'd probably want to get out of here.

most people do not have escape options. Most people are stuck in their suburban neighborhoods or cities. People would have to learn to do without a lot of things, that is for sure.

god bless
