I don't think any Christian says that it's Jesus' birthday, it's just when they celebrate it. I think I see what you mean tho, by celebrating it on that day...it shows by action rather than by word.
The ridiculous thing about it is, Jesus never said to celebrate his birthday...he said to celebrate his death. Also, no Christians in the bible ever celebrated birthdays, but the pagans sure did. And at King Herod's birthday party, John the Baptizer was beheaded, now if all scripture is inspired and beneficial for teaching (1Tim 3:16) I would think that birthdays being celebrated by pagans and Christians dying at these celebrations would be enough to put ANY Christian off such a pagan tradition.

Tradition probably. But I've never heard anyone tell thier children this, and I don't plan on telling mine that Christ was born on Dec. 25th. We don't actually know the exact date Jesus was born on. The whole purpose of celebrating Christmas is to celebrate the fact that Salvation came to the world through Jesus Christ, that He was born of a virgin, and that He lived a sinless life.

I am a Christian and have been to many churches over time and my whole family is Christian and I have NEVER been taught this or heard anybody else teach this. Christmas is a designated day that people celebrate the birth of Jesus, not necessarily his actual Birth date. In fact from what I've heard Jesus' birth date is unknown for certain but is believed to be in April.

December 25 is an arbitrary date to celebrate His birth. We don't claim it's the day he was born. The calendar that even calls that day Dec 25 wasn't invented yet.

I think that you are confusing the holiday. Christmas is the time that we celebrate the birth of Jesus not because it was the ACTUAL day, since no one for sure can tell exactly what day it was. It is the time of year that was chosen to celebrate Christmas. The word "Christmas" is hebrew for Christ Mass meaning a gathering to celebrate Christ that is it. Don't get so confused on dates...

WELL I GUESS THAT THEY DO IT BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN HE WAS REALLY BORN, AND IT IS AN EASY DATE TO PUT IT AT. THE PAGANS USED TO CELEBRATE THE COMING OF WINTER AT THE WINTER SOLSTICE, AND WHEN CHRISTIANS CAME IN AND TOOK OVER THEY KNEW THAT THEY HAD TO LET THGE PEOPLE CELEBRATE THEIR HOLIDAYS. SO WITH SOME CREATIVE TWISTING (WHICH IS WHAT THE CHURCH IS GOOD AT) THEY MADE DEC 25TH THE DATE OF THE CHRIST'S BIRTH. IT IS CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE SOLSTICE YET NOT THE SAME DAY. WE HAVE TAKEN A LOT OF THE PAGAN TRADITIONS AND TURNED THEM INTO PRESENT DAY TRADITIONS, LIKE THE CHRISTMAS TREE AND THE YULE LOG. THIS HAS BEEN DONE WITH EVERY MAJOR PAGAN HOLIDAY IN THE YEAR LIKE EASTER (SPRING FERTILITY FESTAVIL) AND HALLOWEEN (WE GOT TO KEEP HALLOWEEN, BUT THE NEXT DAY IS "ALL SAINTS DAY".

I think "most Christians" do it early on for ease at an early age say 7 and under trying to explain the concepts of assimilating cultures into the faith may be to large. My children understand the truth now but early in life I feel it is easier to minimize.

Because it was the day chosen to celebrate the Birth of our Savior. It doesn not mean the actual day. It is the day of the party (per-se). lot`s of folks celebrate on different days than the real one. I mean, if Your spouse was born on Feb. 16, You and their parents PROBABLY celebrate it on the 14. Valentines Day.. Or you are born on Dec. 23 everyone probably celebrates your day on Christmas.. It is just a date..
Peace & God bless from Texas. <><

Hi,
This is news to me. We were taught we celebrate the birthday of Jesus on this particular date but we do not know exactly what month or even exact year Jesus was born.

Most Christians don't.
Like the one guy there, I have never met a Christian who taught their children that Jesus was born of December 25th - and I was born and raised in one of the most backwards segments of the Christian population.
Ironically, however, there is very good evidence that Jesus *was* born on December 25th. That date is based on historical and astronomical data, counting the courses of the priesthood and the date of a significant lunar eclipse described by Josephus in the first century.
