Ok for sometime now it has been obvious that my neighbours have been watching us through our patio sliding door windows out their bedroom window. but now they actually have a camera visible and we all here can see it. I am a legal secretary keep in mind and I won't do anything illegal or wrong. But I would like to do something to piss them off back so they will stop taping us walking around our house in our underware. While I encourage neighbourhood watch this is rediculous!!!! I don't like them peeping at us. My husband however could care less and likes to keep the blinds open to keep an eye on valuables in our yard such as bikes and what not that we have laying around. I would prefer that they place their camera elsewhere rather than peering into our living quarters. So I would like to do something nasty inside our home visible to their camera, for example like worse than making faces or waving at the camera to have them get the idea we don't appreciate it. Does anyone have IDEAS?

These are all amazing answers. I am thinking along the exact same lines. Today i did close of the section of our patio so that they can not see through it into our home anymore in effect stopping the show. I feel so much better. relieved really. Tommorrow i will take over some chocolates nad mention the camera in the window so that they know that i know it is there. thank you to all. I don't know which answer to pick for the best they are all good.

I went down to the police station today and they said it is not illegal for them to have a camera in teir back yard. so i said but it is illegal for them to tape me with out my ok in my own home and she shrugged her shoulders and said tehy would do nothing not even send an officer out to verify the camera in the window. DISSAPPOINTING FOR ME.

Fake a murder! I'd love to see what happens then!
Either that or take some easy to clean stuff (like that fake snow) and write a nice message for them on your sliding glass door.

I would just be a grown up and confront them to their faces instead of sneaking around and just being mad all of the time. People who do stuff like this do it because they think they can get away with it, if you confront them and get it out in the open they will either stop doing it altogether or be more discrete. The other thing you can do is stop walking past windows people can see through in just your underwear! If you know others can see in, make the adjustment. It's not their fault if your displaying it where it can easily be seen! The camera's a little much, but they aren't drilling holes into your house, they're just looking through a window you haven't bothered to cover.

Are you positive the camera is directed at you and not at a part of their own yard?
Grow some tall fast growing plants in front of their camera on your side of the property.
Put up a tall fence or other obstruction.
Close the blinds and stop the show.
I like the idea the other answerer had about taking them cookies and ask what's so interesting that they are filming in your yard.
There's lots of things you can do other than become as childish as they are apparently being.

Hahahah, this question is hillarious. Why don't you put up a camera and tape them? You could have a surveillance arms race like USA vs. USSR. How about a little one-upsmanship? Go get yourself some high-tech surveillence equipment and see exactly what they're doing. You could even put up a porch light that conveniently illuminates their home for your camera at night.

Bring over a plate a xmas cookies to them and make sure and mention that there must be something interesting going on in the back yard if they are taping all the time.
Let them know that you know it is there or call the cops on them.

You can buy a stick on film to put on your patio sliding door windows so that you can see out clearly but no one can see in. I had the same problem with a weird neighbor several years ago. It really creeped me out so I tried the stick on film and it worked great. You can buy the stick on film at any window treatment shop.

First I'd say to talk to them about it. I'm almost positive it's against the law for them to be filming you in your home. Check your local ordinances.
And I'm all for faking a murder if you really want to get back at them. Just make it convincing enough that they feel the need to call 911. That way, they'll really look stupid.

Put up your own camera and film them filming you!
That'll learn them!
And I agree with the girl who said, put a nice message on the door for them!
"Did you get everything"
"Do you know peeping is illegal"
If you're tired of it, call the police, it's actually illegal to peep!
Good luck!

Umm... Hard one.
My only thought was that if you see them with the camera, get your camera and start taking pictures of them. If that doesn't scare them off, try taking pictures of them when they dont know it and mailing the pictures to them. Try to get some embarrassing ones.
Also if you do the picture thing, dont fill in the return address.
Good luck, Dr.
