down loading pictures from my nikon coolpixp2 onto my computer?

Ihave down loaded pictures from my camera onto my computer ,however when I try to delete any of them it just makes a copy .I highlight the pictures, right click, left click delete hey presto I have another copy. I thought it maybe the mouse but that had no effect still getting more copies upto 76 so far!!!!!! any ideas please
