the whole point of this guys question is to try and get you people who claim to be christians to understand the fact that christmas is a "sin" according to the christianity bible.

for those of you christians who feel that it is indeed the right thing to do by celebrating christmas please read jeremiah 10:2-5
it talks about how cutting down a tree to place it in your house is not a good thing to do.
please read, or are you merely unwilling for the bible to tell you that what you believe is wrong. lol. even though what you believe is suppose to be what the bible says to believe.

Well, so far, only two people were either smart enough to state the obvious and leave it at that or those two people are the only ones that really get the point of the whole issue. At any rate, I'll add my vote.

As a True Christian, the Law of God is first and foremost to me. As a result, yes, I do keep all Ten of God's Commandments -- including the 4th (exactly as stated). I also keep God's Statutes -- including eating only clean flesh foods (if I were to eat flesh foods at all) prepared so as to eliminate the eating of blood and fat. I also don't pay any attention to:

Weekly Sundays (just another work day)
Christmas
New Year's Day
St. Valentine's Day
St. Patrick's Day
Fat Tuesday
Ash Wednesday
Lent
Good Friday
Easter Sunday
All Hallows' Eve (Halloween)
All Saints' Day

        Instead, I observe the following:

God's New Year
God's New Moons
God's Seventh-day (Saturday) Sabbath
The Passover
Feast of Unleavened Bread
Feast of the Wave Sheaf
Feast of First Fruits (Pentecost)
Feast of Trumpets
Feast of Atonement
Feast of Tabernacles
The Last Great Day of the Lord

Christmas is not some harmless thing, it is an outright rebellion against God.

Mark 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. 9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. 13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

The law of God is the Law of love. It is written in our hearts and minds. Christmas as it's called was actually descended from a pagan custom. But, so than our days of the week and the names of many cars and trucks we drive. So too is the Statue of Liberty for that matter. They have no affect on my faith. Paul once mentioned how the strong in faith could even eat the meat offered to the pagan's so called gods - 1 Corinthians 8. Since Paul knew meat to be meat and that there was only one God. He had no qualms with eating the meat. But, it was also important to not offend others by it if they couldn't understand it.

To me this season festival is not remotely related to Jesus (you should see how shoppers act this time of year). I make not even a remote relationship with it. It's a time for some people to serve the gods of greed and materialism. They do that anyway all year round. It just culminates to its fullest extent during the 'holidays'. I simply take it as a time to relax, get a gift or two (though, none are required) and eat some good food. It's an excuse to take off from work. It is no more right or wrong than watching the Super Bowl. Satan owns not one single day God created.

If man has an evil heart and a filthy mind nothing can make him right but faith in Jesus. His traditions are meaningless.

The traditions of man should never be more important than the word of God. That is just setting yourself up for disaster. Proverbs 16:25.

The law of God-- however at what point is taking a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus... (not knowing his real birthday)
wrong? The church started Christ Mass to draw the people back to the church.......... away from the pagan celebrations..
Trying to put Christ back into their lives.....
BTW -- If you yourself are one to be adament about following the Law--- do you follow it ALL?? All 10 Commandments -- correctly?? Even # 4???

Obviously the answer is the traditions of man. If not for the traditions of man, you wouldn't have a cue what the commandments of God were in the first place.

If you take a close look at the passage where Jesus contrasts the commandments of men with the law of God, you will see that he was backing the Pharisees in the corner with their own doctrines. If you take Jesus literally, he was telling the Pharisees to murder their own children - that was the 'commandment of God' that he accused them of neglecting. But we know that Jesus did not advocate the stoning of condemned adulterers, and he frequently advocated human traditions.

God gave an free will there traditions don't apply to God onless God himself made it so since God made the mind of a man he knows this tradition and if your a good christian God knows he is more important to you so then the traditions of man don't apply. I don't know how christmas came to be but as long as they celebrat Jesus thats ok but I do disagree and don't likewith the story told on tv because its not accurate.

Larina, It doesn't have to be black or white, all or nothing. I live my life by faith in the Son of God, Jesus. I let His Holy Spirit be my guide internally. I pray over matters in this life and let God guide me. Your question sounds like you are getting trapped in legalism - trying to earn God's approval by following rules. I follow the Spirit of God and live by grace - God's unmerited, unearned approval.

I would love it if Christmas were celebrated solely as the Birthday of Jesus, but it isn't. We'd have to stop celebrating since none of us knows the exact date, anyway! So, I go on my way, live my life, love my family and ignore some parts of "Christmas" as celebrated in America. I prayed this matter through 25 years ago and all through my children's early years. I did the best I could and then left the rest up to God.

I spend my mental efforts being glad there is a Jesus. He matters to me 24/7/365! The rest is secondary.

God Bless You, Larina
