I'm thinking of becoming a housekeeper, and I see everyone looking for housekeeps need "great refs" what does this mean?

Refs is short for References. Like the references that people can give to your new employer.

References - people (preferably past employers) who will speak highly (and honestly) of your potential as an employee.

Generally you need to provide a name and contact info - address and phone, maybe e-mail address if you know it. Providing 2-3 is a good rule of thumb, but there's no set rule unless they ask you to provide a certain number of references.

Great references from others you have worked for. If you don't have references from others you probably won't get the job.
