my cousin is 17 yrs old and 5'1, i saw her one time and she mentioned she weighed 98lbs, i saw her about two months later she said she weighed 87 lbs, i saw her recently and she weighs 82 lbs. do you think she has a problem? when im with her she usually eats a good amount of food..she has been small her whole life,but now she is making me worried. what should i do?

Talk with her and maybe her parents. Assess eating habits, like her using the rest room after eating for an extended period of time. Is her hair getting thinner, her skin looking duller? She maybe under alot of stress either with school or a boyfriend or friends or all 3. I ate in high school and did not work out much and everyone called me anorexic, which I was NOT. I'm in my late 20's and dont have that problem now, as my metabolism slowed down and I cant eat whatever I want anymore.Its good to be concerned about her. Anything else make you think she has a problem with anorexia?

I agree that it sounds like she may be bulimic. That is where the person does eat, but then either throws up afterward, or used laxatives and diuretics to shed the weight. I would have your mom talk to her mom. If she isn't purposely losing this weight, then she may have another health problem that needs to be addressed.

I think shes anorexic...does she wonder off and go somewhere after eating or a short while after eating?

she may be bulimic...tell your mom to talk to her mother and then all you have to do is take her to the doctor who will tell you for sure! Remeber you are not tattling you are helping her...this condition will kill her!
